Job Description:

Purpose

Support the Capital Markets trading desk by applying a working knowledge of finance, financial instruments, hedging, and asset/liability management concepts to assist traders with execution of short-term investments, debt issuance, and hedges (interest rate derivatives). Responsible for trade capture processes and related operational aspects of daily Capital Markets activity and managing internal processes and applications that support funding, hedging, and investment activities and supporting systems.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Reconcile cash position and monitor cashflow activity (advances, issuance, investments). In coordination with Liquidity Manager, execute money market investment transactions (Fed Funds, Repo, IBDDA, etc.) to manage intraday liquidity with approved counterparties to achieve profitability, interest rate risk, and credit risk objectives consistent with internal policy guidance.

  • Assist with the issuance of debt instruments to maintain adequate liquidity and fund member activity while achieving profitability targets and asset/liability management objectives while ensuring the achievement of the Bank’s financial goals.

  • Support hedging and trading activities by leading the daily transaction capture process, reviewing/processing option exercise decisions, hedge terminations, and pricing for non-standard Member activity.

  • Enter and review transactions against source documentation. Ensure accuracy and completeness of daily trade activity through end-of-day control processes. Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Partner with internal teams to enhance data validation and data reconciliation processes. Define solutions to meet processing, reporting, and servicing requirements, with an emphasis on compliance, cost-efficient operations, streamlining processes, and integration of systems. Drive process improvements to strengthen compliance, controls, efficiency, and system integration with internal servicing groups, as well as external brokers, dealers, underwriters, and counterparties.

  • Perform testing on system updates/implementations to ensure trade data integrity and accurate data capture in downstream systems.

  • Compile ALCO and working group meeting packages, prepare management reports, host meetings, and take minutes as needed. Assist with administrative tasks when needed.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required. Post baccalaureate degree preferred.

  • Two to four years’ experience in banking, treasury, capital markets, or business analyst systems in the financial services industry.

  • Working knowledge of fixed income and derivatives instruments (e.g., agency debentures, mortgage-backed securities, interest rate derivatives) preferred.

  • Experience with Capital Markets systems (Calypso, Bloomberg, Microsoft Office) is a plus.

  • Proficient in various programming languages SQL (PL/SQL, T-SQL), VBA, and Python.

  • High motivation and initiative to independently pursue assignments, responsibilities, and support requests to a logical and final solution, while keeping team members engaged and informed on progress.

  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasking environment. Able to meet time sensitive intraday deadlines while managing competing priorities and promoting constant communication simultaneously with multiple stakeholders.

SALARY RANGE: $100K - $115K
