As mandated by Michigan Court Rules, the employee in this position serves at the will  and pleasure of the Appointing Judge. 


The Appointing Judge for this position is Judge Tracey Yokich


Current Hours and Starting Time: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under direction, performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks of a highly independent and confidential nature. Coordinates all activities of the court and court administration. Maintains the library. Provides assistance on court and administration matters.

ESSENTAIL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates all activities of court administration and/or court, including the trial docket.

Maintains the Judge's library and/or Law Library.

Provides assistance and direction on court matter to attorneys, prosecutors, clients and members of the public.

Types of variety of memos, letters, court orders, dictations, forms, envelopes, cards, receipts and other correspondence.

Compiles and types complex reports and correspondence of a sensitive and/or confidential nature.

Receives incoming telephone calls, answers questions appropriate to skill level, relays messages to appropriate individuals or departments, maintains in-coming mail.

Serves as a liaison for the court and administration, court files and work schedule as required.

Organizes and maintains court administration, court files, and work schedule as required.

Files, searches for and retrieves records and documents and enters information on records and forms.

Makes duplicate copies of reports and information which is then routed to proper persons, departments and/or field.

Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers, Dictaphones, copiers, and calculators. Maintains all office supplies.

Schedules meetings, appointments and makes travel arrangements.

Conducts record keeping for leave time, scheduling appropriate coverage, and payroll as assigned.

Responsible for check requests for payment of various court administration, court, and law library bills and distribution of those checks as assigned.

Transcribes dictation as assigned.

Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent)

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Secretarial experience involving progressively responsible clerical experience in a senior secretarial capacity.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with elected officials, Administrators, Department Heads, staff, union officials and the public

  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature

  • Performing business arithmetic and bookkeeping duties

  • Operating personal computers with current versions of office efficiency software and applications

  • Maintain complex clerical records and prepare reports from such records
