This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.

The role: 

Join our team as an IT Project Manager driving some of the agency’s most strategic technology initiatives. You’ll take the lead on a large-scale application modernization effort, tackling complex datasets and high-impact systems. Beyond project delivery, you’ll guide portfolio reporting, provide strategic insights, and help shape the agency’s long-term IT vision.

A day in the life:

  • Manage multiple concurrent information systems projects from initiation through closure.

  • Develop detailed project schedules into sequenced critical path activities with predecessors/successors, resource plans and durations.

  • Author project management deliverables such as charter, scope, risk/issue logs, and project management plans.

  • Track and monitor project team members assigned to tasks.

  • Manage project risks and issues through mitigation plans.

  • Ensure projects follow defined oversight process and procedures.

  • Provide verbal and written project status reports to steering committees and management.

  • Perform contract management duties such as writing statement of work and reviewing invoices for accuracy.

  • Manage project scope, schedule or budget changes by obtaining approval using change management procedures.

  • Review team member and contractor resource deliverables to ensure a quality product is produced

Minimum qualifications:

  • Six (6) years’ of information systems experience in: project delivery of software application projects.

OR 

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: project delivery of software application projects.

OR 

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: project delivery of software application projects.

OR 

  • Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above. 

What we’d like to see:

  • PMP license preferred.

  • PROSCI or similar change management credential preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale application service modernization projects.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple concurrent complex information technology (IT) projects with large and complex datasets that resulted in the implementation of a new system or new system functionality.

  • Experience gathering information from different team members to break down important project tasks into smaller, manageable parts using tools like Microsoft Project or similar planning software.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (e.g., emails, status reports, project documentation), including the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly to internal and external partners using tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Visio or similar office tools.

  • Candidate understands how projects impact, or are tied to, other initiatives and strategies in an IT portfolio.
