JOB TITLE: IT Infrastructure Specialist – Networks

SALARY: £47,790 – £53,100

LOCATIONS: Halifax

HOURS: Full-time, 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at one of our office sites.
This role includes participation in a 24/7 on-call support rota.

About this opportunity

The Network Operations team plays a key role in helping Britain Prosper through ensuring that Lloyds Banking Group services are always available to both our External Customers and Colleagues. The “network” that you’ll help support, underpins every colleague, service and transaction that the Bank undertakes from a simple ATM transaction, a telephone call to our contact centres, the whole branch estate and our Online Banking Platforms used by millions of customers.

The Lloyds Banking Group Networks Service is also transitioning to Software Defined Networks with Automated Services away from a traditional network infrastructure. What you’ll be doing

  • Manage and resolve service incidents by collaborating with internal teams and third-party suppliers. 

  • Lead incident communications and ensure timely service restoration in a controlled environment. 

  • Approve and oversee change controls, maintaining quality standards across the department. 

  • Conduct root cause analysis and facilitate problem reviews to identify preventative actions. 

  • Identify opportunities to reduce operating and change costs, improve service delivery, and adopt innovative approaches. 

  • Share your knowledge and expertise to support team development and continuous improvement. 

  • Contribute to the evolution of team culture, operating models, and ways of working to ensure readiness for future transformation. 

What you’ll need

  • Deep technical understanding of networks and IT infrastructure

  • Demonstrable expertise in solving complex problems and managing incidents

  • Great communication skills to work with colleagues and suppliers

  • Familiarity with tools like ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence is a plus
     

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Confident communicator with presentation skills

  • Experience with processes related to overseeing changes
     

Bonus points for experience with:

  • Software Defined Networking (Cisco ACI, SD-WAN)

  • Wi-Fi services (DNA Centre, DNAC)

  • Telephony (Avaya, HUCS, RingCentral)

  • Load balancing (F5)

  • Firewalls (Checkpoint, Fortinet, Cisco)

  • Network security (Forescout, NIPS, NDR)

  • DNS/IPAM (Infoblox)

  • Legacy routing and switching (Cisco)
