What you'll be doing

We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate to join the Multi-Manager Investment Program (MMIP) team. You will be responsible for supporting investment manager due diligence efforts across a variety of asset classes, as well as investment monitoring, performance reporting, operational process management, and market research.

We strongly value continuous improvement and innovation in our research process to target superior performance. We serve in a fiduciary capacity for our clients by working closely with our relationship management and business development teams to provide sound investment management and advisory services. Furthermore, an entrepreneurial approach will be strongly encouraged.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in manager research while supporting all aspects of private wealth portfolio management.

How you'll succeed 

Manager Due Diligence

  • Conduct extensive qualitative and quantitative due diligence on existing investment strategies

  • Support research efforts on new managers to enhance available investment solutions

  • Analyze and prepare reports on manager performance, benchmark comparisons, and market risk

Client & Internal Engagement

  • Support broader MMIP team by performing duties such as research, preparation of analytical studies, reports, and presentations

  • Correspond with Relationship Managers and Business Development Officers to provide up to date manager information

  • Work with team to develop educational/marketing materials to support business development efforts

  • Assist internal teams with operational processes to ensure the best execution of investment strategies

  • Contribute to a strong organizational culture through effective collaboration with operations, compliance, and legal teams to support seamless investment implementation and oversight, resulting in superior client and employee engagement

Who you are 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree.

  • You have 1-5 years’ relevant financial services experience (investment research, portfolio analysis, or due diligence preferred). You have a keen interest in manager research with some background in financial services.

  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. You understand that an accurate foundation sets up the team for success.

  • You possess strong  analytical and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolution. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way. 

  • You are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point, as well as financial data software, such as FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar.

  • You are an effective time manager: accurately prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and balancing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • You are passionate about growing your knowledge and continuously learning and improving while consistently demonstrating a high-level of execution of current responsibilities. You have a strong sense of curiosity.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 for the Boston, MA market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
