JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly assists Radiologist during all aspects of interventional radiology procedures as directed by the appropriate supervisor
Responsible for the continuity of care of patients while they are in the interventional radiology section
Communicates to Radiologist clinical observations during interventional radiology procedures
Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the RIS/HIS modules appropriate to their job descriptions
Injects contrast for interventional radiology procedures in accordance with department policy
Provides educational information to the patient regarding their examination
Provides coverage for CT biopsies as necessary
Teaches and trains students in their specified technology, if site applicable
Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs. Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available resulting in excellent continuity of care for patients
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent use of fingers and hands in operating equipment and in charting information. Standing or walking for up to 7 hours per day in 60-minute increments. Sitting for up to 1-hour per day in 15-minute increments. Pushing, pulling and lifting patients up 300 pounds with assistance. Lifting and moving objects up to 40 pounds. Frequent stoops, bends and crouches. Often reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal hearing. Seeing as it relates to normal vision.
EDUCATION:
Graduate from an ARRT recognized education program, or ARRT registered, or ARRT registry eligible.
NJ Candidates: Registered Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist or Registered Radiology Technologist (with a current license issued by the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection).
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
IR or Cath Lab experience preferred. On the job cross training is available for this position. Required to obtain advanced Interventional Radiology registry within 1 year of eligibility for registry. Obtain BLS within 3 months of hire. History of computer usage experience required.
