Major Duties:

  • You will provide critical leadership for the development and oversight of safety/surety engineering activities and system security engineering across weapons integration efforts in support of nuclear-powered naval platforms.
  • You will lead a team of engineers responsible for establishing and implementing robust safety/surety and system security frameworks for integrated weapons and nuclear systems.
  • You will serve as the technical authority on system safety, explosive safety, risk assessments, nuclear surety protocols, and cyber/information security relevant to integrated platforms.
  • You will coordinate with NAVSEA, program offices, Naval Reactors, and acquisition stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable DoD, DOE, and DON safety policies and requirements.
  • You will support weapons certification processes and interfaces with test authorities to evaluate safety-critical functions and fail-safes.
  • You will develops and maintains program-level safety plans, independent safety assessments, and weapon surety reviews. Provides mentoring and leadership development for staff engineers within the safety/surety section.
  • You will resolve complex problems and manage risks involving limited time, resources, and technology shortfalls.

Qualifications: In addition to the basic education requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or NH-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer developing or providing oversight of safety/surety engineering activities in support of nuclear-powered naval platforms; conducting weapons surety reviews; and providing engineering analysis and life cycle support of warfare and/or combat systems.
