Job Description:

Purpose of the position:
The position will ensure the sustainable and equitable management of water resources by coordinating development and management of water, land, and related resources for all stakeholders. This role involves balancing competing needs such as for agriculture, industry, and human consumption while protecting the environment for present and future generation.


Major Responsibilities:

1. Technical Expertise, Leadership and Support: 40%
• Design and implement water resource management strategies aligned with World Vision International Lesotho mission and donor requirements.
• Conduct water source assessments, hydrological studies, and feasibility

analyses.
• Support the development of water infrastructure (e.g., boreholes, rainwater 
harvesting systems, gravity-fed schemes).
• Facilitate community-based water committees and promote participatory water governance.
• Organize training sessions for local stakeholders on water conservation, watershed management, and climate adaptation.
• Promote gender-sensitive approaches in water resource planning

2. Capacity Building and Development and Reporting 30%
• Develop and maintain water resource monitoring systems (e.g., water quality, 
quantity, seasonal availability).
• Prepare technical reports, case studies, and donor updates.
• Contribute to learning and knowledge-sharing within the organization.

3. Grant acquisition and management 15%
• Support proposal development and fundraising efforts related to water resource management.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and scaling successful models.

4. Advocacy, Engagement and Networking 15%
• Collaborate with government agencies, local authorities, and other NGOs on water related initiatives.
• Advocate for sustainable water policies and practices at local and national

levels.
• Represent World Vision International Lesotho in sectoral forums and working 
groups.

Qualification and experience required:

Master’s degree in water resources management, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or related field with 5 years’ post -qualification experience in

water resource management, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian context.

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in water resources management, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or related field with 8 years’ post -qualification experience in

water resource management, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian context.

Technical Skills & Abilities:
o Fluency in English.
o Strong project management
o Knowledge of and adherence to the Government policy on INGOs and NGOs
o Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context.
o Knowledge about WASH related approaches and policies 
o Working in a cross-cultural environment
o Very good oral and written communication skills in English and ability to write quality report

Working Environment / Conditions:
• Domestic Travel: 95% travel to Area Program and project areas is required. 
• On call: 5% In emergency situations, the position will be required to be on-call.

REMUNERATION: Competitive with market standards
