OBJECTIVE:

Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection to ensure that the products are free of flaws and function as designed.

Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates.

Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions.

Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensures that effective corrective actions are implemented and contributes to supplier quality improvement programs

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:


The Sr. Quality Engineer will work on complex and innovative projects to reduce internal and external quality issues. Will provide technical support to define inspections techniques, test procedures, equipment development and training. Will prepare quality documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, inspections plans and test procedures.
•    Coordinates, administers and performs the quality function of an engineering and technical nature to ensure product quality and reliability at minimum quality costs. 
•    Prepare quality documentation such as control plans, PFMEAs, inspection plans, test procedures, etc. Establishes and maintains quality control standards and procedures.
•    Diagnose quality problems (field, vendor’s site and manufacturing plant), develop solutions, and monitor corrective action implementation and effectiveness
•    Maintain and continually improving the quality management system in the areas assigned with a “risk management” approach
•    Assure compliance to company procedures, policies and most current revision of ISO 9001 standard, 
•    Coordinate the continuous improvement and maintenance of the quality system
•    Participate in new product development (NPD) to ensure all customer requirements are met and the manufacturing process is robust
•    Oversee NPD builds to ensure process controls are in place and effective
•    Completion and documentation of all phases of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
•    Prepare and submit all necessary PPAP documentation per AIAG guidelines. 
•    Develop gauge concepts and procure gauges for specific programs.
•    Lead and/or participate in supplier audits and qualification process 
•    Manage and develop quality personnel 
•    Train Quality and Production personnel in Quality requirements relating to specific programs.
•    Analyze results and recommend solutions to complex product and process quality problems
•    Work with engineering and manufacturing staff, equipment manufacturers and vendors to develop solutions and implement preventative measures to address product and process quality problems
•    Develop testing methodologies and equipment including precision computerized measuring devices and statistical control techniques
•    Support the Product Introduction Process through all phases of prototype fabrication and delivery.
•    Ensure that preventive and corrective actions, CAPAS, NMR's, and customer complaints are dealt with in a timely manner.
•    Coordinate the follow-up and closing of customer complaints through 8D tool and supported statistical rationales.
•    Control non-conforming material and quarantine areas to ensure that non-conforming product is not released to the customer.
•    Coordinate material review meetings to ensure proper disposition of nonconforming material.
•    Coordinate and control of inspection activities, and reinforces the requirements as specified for raw materials, components, product, and packaging specifications and regulatory/normative agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


•    BS degree in industrial, chemical, mechanical engineering or other technical discipline
•    5+ years of quality experience role & a minimum 3 years in an engineering role
•    Skilled in project management and handling multiple projects simultaneously
•    Experienced with incoming inspection and supplier interaction
•    Strong statistical knowledge
•    Excellent problem-solving skills
•    Self-sufficient and thrives in a team environment
•    Ability to influence and lead others, a change agent
•    Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
•    Bilingual English/Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Knowledge of Pareto analysis techniques, Gage R&R, Control Plans and FMEA
•    Skilled in the use of word-processing, spreadsheet, and database computer programs
•    Enthusiastic, hardworking, results oriented with a can-do attitude, working towards career advancement
•    Effective at multitasking and time management
•    Experience in new product introduction process

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


•    Experience in AIAG based systems, Chemical, Automotive & Medical industry experience is a must
•    MBA or MS degree in related field
•    Experience with implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM)
•    Experience in a leadership position in a quality role 
•    Experience in a high-volume / high-mix manufacturing organization
•    Strong knowledge and certifications Lead Auditor ISO 9000, Lean Manufacturing and/or 6Sigma (SSBB, SSGB), CQE, SQE.
