The Role

Day to day, you'll:
• You’ll lead or contribute to the architectural design of cloud platform middleware technologies and products across our ecosystem
• You’ll be hands-on, working on building and maintaining our hybrid products and services
• Be proficient in leading technical conversations with stakeholders of varying levels of technical background, including Senior Management and other Subject Matter Experts
• Be a great collaborator across internal, external, and 3rd party teams
• Drive best-in-class approaches to automation and security
• Have the ability to provide education and mentorship covering cloud engineering topics to support different teams on those topics, and drive upskilling
• Be an SME in a particular aspect of infrastructure engineering or product category


Who You Are

Skills you’ll need:
• 10+ years MQ experience designing and engineering MQ infrastructure and systems (including installation, tuning, patching, problem determination and administration)
• Strong background in MQ integration (including to/from other middleware products) and features whilst ensuring deployments are aligned to industry best practices.
• Experience of working around technical issues to deliver the solutions & experience of technical fault fixing to levels of 3rd/4th line.
• Strong knowledge of product and connectivity security (e.g. TLS, certificate management, OSCP, CRL).
• Good knowledge of Urban Code and its usage (including developing UCD automation).
• Good knowledge of scripting (including development, testing and troubleshooting).
• Strong understanding of MQ High Availability/DR configurations including MQ RDQM and MQ High Availability deployment on OS level HA features.
• Strong understanding of MQ Clustering, workload balancing options and failover.
• Strong understanding of MQ Monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Thought leadership – strong thinking how existing processes/deployments can be improved, streamlined, simplified or automated.
• Knowledge of automation tools such as VRA / VRO, Ansible, etc.
• Defect Management
• Storage / SAN.
• Networking (DHCP / WINS / DNS).
• Chef.
• VCenter / vSphere.
• Active Directory.
• Creation / Management of Roadmaps.
• Product Management (Documentation, Governance, Stakeholder Management, Customer Management)


You'll
• Liaise and collaborate with different levels of colleagues up to exec level to deliver a best-in-class hybrid cloud platform
• Engage stakeholders from all levels of both Managed and Project Services teams to ensure that they are aware of the way we consume various Products and what new skills are needed to be rolled out because of any new services implemented
• Represent the details of the solutions through any appropriate governance and discuss and agree the baselines for security compliance of the Product Offerings
• Contribute to or lead on the analysis, design and delivery of best in breed infrastructure systems
• Be proficient in using an agile workflow and agile tooling such as JIRA
• Work closely with Product Owners & Engineering colleagues to gather and interpret the needs of internal client customers as well as feed into product roadmaps and vision
• Understand and follow secure-by-design principles, be able to contribute to discussions on security, automation and engineering approach
• Understand risk processes and identify, articulate and provide steps to mitigate
• Provide L3/4 support as and when needed to the Managed Service teams including, as an exception and here requested, to assist out of normal hours in the event of a major customer issue
• Operate as a self-starter, able to manage workload, and identify and plan next tasks
