The Oregon State Hospital (OSH), a division of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), provides patient-centered psychiatric treatment for adults with mental illness from throughout the state. What You Will Do
This position will help OSH transition outdated systems to mature and stable technologies, and ensure these systems meet the ongoing operational needs of an inpatient psychiatric hospital. This position will be responsible for general support to develop tools and usage conventions for process standardization and assist end users on an as needed basis. This will require expertise in requirements capture, supporting non-technical users, debugging, and re-engineering tools and technology to meet the operational needs of the hospital. The ability to migrate access database applications to a SQL backend will be a requirement for this role.
Development of Tools and Usage Conventions
Inputs may include interviews with subject matter experts, analysis of information flow maps, and inspection of existing processes and tools.
Outputs will include complete designed tools that accommodate hospital operational workflows. Usage conventions will be communicated through user guides, help pages, and demonstration videos.
This position works under general supervision according to scheduled activities, as problems come up or in terms of general project objectives. Overall performance is reviewed for technical accuracy and conformance with standards. The person in this position will be expected to make independent decisions to design, develop, diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix software errors for existing and new MS Access applications and databases. These decisions apply to new business processes, mixed system standards, compatibility issues and a variety of users. This position will be expected to work independently with OSH staff to assist local development of department level MS Access databases by providing expert advice and guidance. The effect of these decisions, or lack thereof, will affect the workflow and efficiency of staff and have an impact on patient care at the Hospital. These effects may include, but are not limited to, enhanced treatment, safety and care of patients, operational efficiencies, and other similar outcomes.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3) years of information systems experience in: MS suite of tools, inclusive of Access, SQL, technical requirements gathering, debugging, re-engineering, and system migration OR 
 
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND one (1) year of information systems experience in: MS suite of tools, inclusive of MS Access.
