As a Hospital Safety Officer, you play a critical role in helping us achieve this goal. This specific Hospital Safety Officer will be working in the Behavioral Health Center. This position offers a great opportunity to make a lasting difference while gaining hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.    

 

A PRN caregiver in this position works, at minimum, one night per week from 6:45PM – 7:15AM, with holiday and hurricane requirements. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Protect patients, visitors, caregivers and hospital property.  

  • Round in assigned areas and participate in safety rounds.  

  • Engage with patients, identify at-risk patients and provide necessary notifications. 

  • Promote a safe, therapeutic environment.  

  • Attend to escalating incidents and be a first responder to patient threats of violence. 

  • Identify issues and act appropriately to eliminate safety hazards.  

  • Re-direct and de-escalate patient situations.  

  • Prevent aggressive behavior, seclusion and restraint by using the least restrictive methods. 

  • Intervene in patient, visitor and/or caregiver confrontations.  

  • Assist caregivers with processing new admissions by assisting with safety searches, inventory of belongings and screening.  

  • Complete appropriate documentation of various incidents.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • High School Diploma/GED, two years of customer service experience and two years of experience within a behavioral health, hospital, security or a related setting OR Associate’s Degree and two years of customer service experience  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Class “D” Security Office License from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires extensive walking, standing, sitting, talking, listening, and documenting when directing or investigating concerns/incidents.
