We are looking for Health & Safety Engineer to lead and manage all safety and environmental programs at the operations site/plant. This includes ensuring a safe working environment, full compliance with local regulations and Nissan’s global standards, and the effective implementation of safety tools and procedures. The role also involves conducting audits and risk assessments, developing training plans, monitoring safety KPIs, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Main responsibilities:
Safety Management & Compliance
Ensure the Safety Management System is effectively implemented and communicated across NMEG.
Establish and update safety policies, procedures, instructions, and checklists in coordination with the OHS team.
Ensure ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 procedures are updated, implemented, and documented.
Conduct internal audits as per the audit plan to ensure compliance with ISO standards.
Conduct technical audits to identify unsafe conditions and implement countermeasures.
Perform SES and F-PES audits regularly to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
Training & Awareness
Develop and monitor the annual safety training matrix and plan.
Prepare specific training materials for shop floor staff.
Conduct induction and safety training for new hires, visitors, and contractors.
Support the OHS team in preparing MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and communicating them across departments.
Monitoring & Reporting
Prepare and track safety KPIs annually, referencing previous years and global benchmarks.
Collect and report monthly incident statistics (ISP).
Monitor PPE stock levels and report monthly consumption.
Coordinate with the OHS team to prepare regular health and safety reports.
Prepare quarterly safety improvement progress reports.
Risk Management
Conduct risk assessments with contractors and relevant departments.
Ensure implementation of safety tools such as PTW (Permit to Work), IC (Incident Control), SJA (Job Safety Analysis), and Toolbox Talks.
Prepare agendas for health and safety meetings.
Standardize safety visual aids across the shop floor.
Stakeholder Communication
Communicate safety instructions to third parties and subcontractors.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment on safety standards and practices.
Who We’re Looking for:
1–2 years of experience in health and safety document control.
Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science.
Strong knowledge of local safety and environmental regulations.
Certified internal auditor for ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
OSHA General Industry & Construction certification.
Expertise in risk assessment, fire safety, first aid, and working at height.
Proficient in document control and writing procedures/instructions.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint,).
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet targets.
Strong process management and organizational skills.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and data interpretation.
