DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking an energetic, results-driven and service-oriented Health and Well-Being Specialist to lead transformative occupational and mental health initiatives that foster a resilient, inclusive, and high-performing workforce across the organization.

Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Advisor, Talent Management and Well-Being, and the guidance of the Director of Human Resources Management, the selected candidate will:

•    Design and implement comprehensive health promotion and wellness programs, including vaccination campaigns and mental well-being initiatives.
•    Provide on-site primary care and first aid, and coordinate occupational, preventive, and mental health services (this is not a teleworking position).
•    Manage health-related entitlements, ensuring confidentiality, compliance with organizational policies, and accuracy in billing and reporting.
•    Analyze workforce health data, leveraging digital and AI tools to identify risks, improve services, and inform strategic decisions.
•    Collaborate with internal teams, external providers, and other partners to strengthen workplace health, safety, and resilience across the Organization.

What is required for this position?

Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or certification as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) such as a Nurse Practitioner (Family Practice), or a Bachelor of Medicine, from a recognized institution. A valid license to practice in the District of Columbia is required.

Experience
Seven years of combined national and international experience in delivering occupational health services in clinical, corporate, governmental, or intergovernmental environments.

Languages
Fluency in English or Spanish with working knowledge of the other. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset.

IT Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, and electronic medical records. Familiarity with ERP systems is an asset.

•    Theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing, emergency care, and occupational health protocols.
•    Understanding of health-related challenges during duty travel or deployment.
•    Ability to design and implement health promotion and preventive strategies.
•    Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze health-related data.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills.
•    High level of discretion and confidentiality.
•    Ability to provide first aid and stabilize patients until EMS arrives.
•    Familiarity with digital health tools and AI-enabled systems.
