The Role
NAB’s North American business is strategic aligned to deliver our global product set to a select group of clients based in US and Canada.
Based in New York, the Head of US Private Placements (USPP) will have people leader (PL) responsibility for the USPP team.
Working alongside our global Client Coverage, Markets and Corporate Finance teams based in New York, London, Paris, Asia, New Zealand this role will further develop our offering in the US Distribution to support CIB / NAB ambitions and support client strategic goals.
The North American business has an alignment with Financial Sponsors and their portfolio companies with a particular focus on Infrastructure Managers and their investments in the transport, energy, renewables, and digital sectors. This client set is well served by our Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Coverage teams
The individual will strategically identify opportunities and develop the capability of the team and the organization to deliver private market solutions for our clients.
The role will:
- Lead the development of USPP capability in the US
- Manage the USPP team, which includes (1) management of transactions, leading pitches, developing sector and market insights and (2) development of the team and its capability.
- Work closely with Client Coverage to further develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers at clients who utilize NAB’s USPP capability.
- Develop strategies and value propositions to expand product and sector capability, including the growth in ideas-generation, advisory capability and proactive alignment of products to client needs.
- Understand in depth the USPP market to provide insights into the transaction activity of the global capital markets business.
- Provide insights into transaction committees, market analysis and competitor analysis across the global corporate finance business.
- Originate USPP roles across NAB’s global client set in North America, Europe and Australia.
- Provide input into the development of Strategic Account Plans (SAPs) in concert with product/markets colleagues, and the development of pitches/solutions that highlight NAB’s capabilities and expertise.
- Be an active participant in discussions regarding streamlining and improving the operations of the business.
- Develop a holistic business strategy approach aligned to our Clients’ strategic needs; drive strategic dialogue and support the development of relationships within given risk/return parameters.
- Work closely with Capital Markets, GLOS and Agency teams across the globe to deliver access to capital markets and serve clients brilliantly.
- Work in coordination with global Corporate Finance and Capital Markets team members to build and execute strategies for delivering bank wide products.
The Role will support our broader businesses globally and will be accountable for managing the USPP team to coordinate the delivery of transactions.

USPP
USPP is a key strategic product of NAB, with a focus on delivering market access to our chosen global clients.
Working Relationsips
The Role will be required to work collaboratively within Corporate & Institutional Banking and across business units and geographies to build the USPP business.
The Role will also work with bankers across other Corporate Finance groups, Client Coverage and Risk to deliver on client requirements, expand the product penetration and raise the relevance of NAB to our clients.
Key success measures will include financial (revenue and ROE) metrics, improved client advocacy and demonstrating strong collaborative behaviours.

Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate is a strategic and relationship driven individual. S/he will bring risk awareness, a deep product knowledge in Specialized Finance, private market sales as well general industry sector knowledge.
S/he will be an entrepreneurial, self-starting team player who is flexible, dependable, and goal-oriented, with a proven ability to work under pressure.
In addition, the individual will demonstrate:
- Minimum 15 years of experience successfully working within a USPP, DCM, Capital Markets or Loan Syndicate context.
- Strong leadership abilities with financial services and client development teams.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
