Mō te tūranga | About the Role
As Head of Portfolio Performance, you will lead a high-performing team and provide insight, leadership and strategy to achieve WNZL’s commercial objectives. You’ll be accountable for pricing governance, performance frameworks, product lifecycle oversight, and operational excellence across the Product Sustainability and Marketing (PSM) business unit.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders, governance stakeholders, and external partners to ensure alignment with strategic goals, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite, while also acting as a trusted thought partner to the Managing Director of Product Sustainability and Marketing (PSM), contributing to strategic planning and business decision-making.
Drive and oversee the pricing strategy for all products, ensuring rigorous governance through implementation and continuous improvement of pricing tools and frameworks that maximise commercial outcomes.
Design, develop, and continuously monitor a comprehensive suite of performance indicators to enable data-driven, strategic decision-making across the business, proactively identifying opportunities and risks.
Lead product governance for Westpac New Zealand by ensuring robust end-to-end product reviews, embedding best-practice change management processes, and maintaining high standards of product integrity and compliance.
Work closely with the Managing Director - Products, Sustainability & Marketing to steer business planning, operational execution, and expenditure management, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and resource optimisation.
Foster a high-performing environment by providing teams with clear, timely business insights that help them continuously improve and reach ambitious goals.
Build and manage strong relationships with executive stakeholders, cross-functional internal teams, and external consultants to foster collaboration, alignment, and delivery of business priorities.
Drive a strong, forward-thinking approach to risk management within the business unit by maintaining strict compliance with all regulatory, governance, and risk requirements, while setting the standard for operational excellence.
Provide comprehensive reporting on Product Sustainability and Marketing (PSM) performance, identifying trends and escalating market-sensitive information promptly to support informed executive decision-making.

10+ years’ senior leadership experience in financial services, ideally banking.
Proven track record in delivering commercial outcomes and driving strategic initiatives.
Strong analytical capability with expertise in pricing, performance optimisation, and business planning.
Demonstrated experience in product governance and lifecycle management.
Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Experience in operational risk, compliance, and financial crime risk management.
Financial management expertise, including budget planning and cost control.
Strong understanding of the New Zealand banking environment is desirable, including economic and regulatory drivers.
Ability to drive cultural change and embed risk and performance culture across business units.
