Role and Responsibilities

About the role

As the Head of Insights, you will serve as a strategic leader, driving the integration of data-driven insights into our global advertising strategy. Your role will be critical in enhancing our understanding of TV viewership trends, optimizing advertising performance, and positioning Samsung Ads as a thought leader in the CTV space.

You will have a passion for research, strong analytical skills, and be a great communicator. You will be a master of condensing the complexity of the data landscape into simple narratives that are easily understood by any stakeholder. You should be excited by solving problems, leading a high-impact function, and turning complex viewing and advertising data into strategic insights for agencies, advertisers, and industry bodies.

The Head of Insights will report directly to the ESBO Director of Analytics & Insights. The role is based in 80 Stand London, but this role will cover European markets so traveling will be needed. 

Your key responsibilities

  • Thought leadership - Own the Strategic Thought Leadership roadmap for Samsung Ads Europe, pushing the boundaries of CTV research to establish Samsung as the leading authority on CTV market insight, educated the market, and directly influening advertiser strategy, sales growth, and Samsung’s market positioning. Own the delivery of reseach projects, determining the key narratives, and ensure that stakeholders are informed and aligned throughout the delivery process.

  • 1st party insights – Uncover insights from Samsung’s extensive 1st party TV viewing and mobile behavour datasets, and share this this with internal and external stakeholders via external publications and whitepapers, industry and client presentations, fact sheets, dashboards and bespoke analysis.

  • Measurement as a strategic pillar – Build and maintain strategic partnerships with Joint Industry Committees (JICs) such as BARB, AGF, and Origin to shape the future of CTV measurement. Represent Samsung in industry discussions, ensuring our insights align with evolving standards and best practices.

  • Client-Centric Research and Engagement - Design and deliver tailored research and data analysis for clients and vertical-specific campaigns, ensuring our solutions meet their unique needs and drive meaningful engagement with brands and agencies.

  • Sales Cycle Acceleration - Provide timely, actionable insights to support short-term sales efforts, enabling our teams to close deals effectively and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

  • Long-Term Vision and Innovation -  Focus on the long-term evolution of measurement frameworks, fostering collaboration with internal teams to ensure alignment on data outputs and maintain Samsung’s leadership in the industry.

  • Vendor management – Commission and manage 3rd party research vendors to deliver the thought leadership roadmap. Source, manage and own research tools used across A&I and the wider order – GWI, Kantar, Omdia, Dataxis, 3reasons

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Data Solutions, Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to align insights with business objectives, ensuring consistency and driving growth across all initiatives.

This role is designed for a seasoned leader with a proven track record of transforming data into strategic insights, driving client engagement, and shaping industry standards. The Head of Insights will play a pivotal role in advancing Samsung Ads’ mission to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that redefine the future of advertising.

  • Performance Management: Lead annual people management cycles, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and salary reviews, ensuring these are conducted to a high standard and in a timely manner.

  • Compliance and Accountability: Ensure your team adheres to company processes, procedures, and values, including compliance with mandatory business deadlines and cyclical requirements.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent

  • 5+ years of agency, media owner, or consulting experience strongly preferred

  • 5+ years experience in research and/or analytics

Essential

  • Proven experience leading an insights, research, or analytics function in media, advertising, or technology.

  • Track record of producing thought leadership and market-shaping insights.

  • Previous agency, broadcaster, or platform experience.

  • Strong knowledge of TV and digital media measurement.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders.

  • Experience managing teams and vendors across multiple markets.

Advantageous

  • Familiarity with CTV, programmatic, and addressable advertising.

  • Experience working with industry measurement bodies (e.g., BARB, AGF).

  • Background in econometrics, data analytics, or marketing science.

Other requirements:

  • Lead and encourage change - Guide the business through change, ensuring it positively impacts collaborators.

  • Clear and concise messaging - Succinctly deliver clear narratives that condense complex subjects into clear ’this is what you need to know and why’ with recommendations/next steps (verbally and written)

  • Ability to translate between the business and technical communities.  A high level of analytical and research skills is crucial, as well as the capability to communicate test results in accessible terms for non-technical colleagues.

  • Client consulting capabilities - Ability to facilitate client meetings to explain new concepts and draw out client needs

  • Be an expert at managing conflict and differing positions within the business across multiple levels - individual, team, leadership, exec

  • Experience influencing at a leadership level, and adjusting communication styles appropriately

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects (multi-task in a fast-paced environment)

  • Be capable of crafting high-quality written documentation to inspire change - i.e. arguments, team vision and planning documentation, a proposal for business change etc.

  • Ability to work well independently and be self-motivated

  • Willing to learn new concepts

  • Work collaboratively across departments to refine team processes, standards, tools
