The Head of Incoming Payments for Branded Cards & Lending and Citi Retail Services plays a crucial role for USPB, by overseeing more than ~900 million payments received annually through multiple channels (and payments rails) from our client base of more than 70 million accounts.

The Head of Incoming Payments for BC&L and CRS will lead a team of product managers responsible for developing and implementing intuitive/convenient mechanisms for clients to pay their credit cards bills. This involves understanding the evolving payments landscape and developing proactive strategies for incoming payments, including:

  • launching new channels/rails & managing new initiatives by providing oversight of requirements and use case development to ensure consistent customer experience and adherence to regulations and policies (including cross group projects that impact Payments).

  • the potential rationalization of existing channels/rails & 

  • redesigning payments flows for improved/consistent customer experience and risk reduction.

Responsibilities include certain in-business risk management activities related to incoming payments, including supporting an effective Managers Control Assessment program (playing a key role in the identification & assessment of both Inherent Risks and Controls) ultimately ensuring that individual customer payments are posted correctly and timely within compliance with Reg Z 1026.10. To achieve this goal, the scope also includes developing the inventory of the existing incoming payments channels/processes, aiming to enhancing the control environment through process/controls documentation and monitoring (establishing an incoming payments dashboard) of a multiplicity channels (for which the role will take ownership), including:

  • Citi Mobile App (internal Transfer + ACH)

  • Citibank Online (internal Transfer + ACH)

  • Third Party Bill Payments (Fiserv, Mastercard’s RPPS, Western Union & Moneygram)

  • Interactive Voice Response

  • Express Mail (Exela, Deluxe)

  • Agent Assisted / Phone

  • Branch Teller & ATM (Cash, Check and Internal Transfer)

  • In-Store Payments (CRS)

  • Text to Pay (CRS)

  • Wire Payments

In addition, the role will be expected to:

  • Interpret payment regulations and Citi policies, overseeing their implementation and driving new initiatives to ensure compliance.

  • Oversee/manage all customer-facing disclosures and communications related to incoming payments.

  • Front both internal (e.g.: Internal Audits, Compliance Business Monitoring, etc.) and external (e.g.: regulatory exams / focus reviews) reviews.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in financial services, with a proven track record in strategy execution, external industry engagement, and managing high-performing product teams.

  • Candidate should possess strong business judgment, analytical skills, a consumer-centric mindset, and excellent communication skills.  A deep understanding of Credit Cards and a passion for emerging technologies are also essential. 

  • Strong risk and control acumen and process management experience is also needed.

  • The position requires experience in defining product roadmaps, collaborating with design, operations and technology, and successfully launching products, channels and processes at scale.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
