The Head of CEM and Data Centers acts as the pivotal subject matter expert in these environments overseeing all critical environment engineering technical systems and disciplines, heading the Asia Pacific CEM board and sitting on relevant global JLL Boards. The Head of Data Center & Critical Environments for Asia Pacific is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and financial performance of the data center and critical facilities management platform across the region. This individual will lead a team of experts to deliver world-class, resilient, and efficient operations for our clients' most critical assets. The role is focused on driving growth, ensuring 100% uptime, managing risk, and fostering innovation in sustainability and technology within the critical environment space. He / she manages technical experts and provides direction to ensure best-in-class critical environment building operation through various forums and manuals. Ensures accounts maintain building systems safety, compliance, and uptime. Focuses on safety, leadership, people management, compliance, human experience, efficiency, and delivery of work as agreed in the master service agreement with the client.
What this job involves: Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
Develop and execute the regional business strategy for the Data Center & Critical Environments service line, in alignment with global objectives.
Support the P&L for the practice group, including budgeting, forecasting, and achieving revenue and profitability targets.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leading major pursuits and collaborating with sales and solutions teams to expand our market share.
Act as the senior SME for key data center clients in the region, ensuring strategic alignment and partnership.
2. Operational Excellence & Risk Management
Establish and enforce the highest standards for operational delivery across all client sites, with a primary focus on safety, resiliency, and 100% uptime.
Oversee the implementation of global best practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
Lead the regional risk management framework, including incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and business continuity planning (BCP).
Ensure all operations comply with local and international regulations, industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute), and client-specific requirements.
3. Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional team of country leads, subject matter experts, and critical facility managers.
Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
Champion talent development initiatives, including technical training programs, succession planning, and career pathing for critical environment professionals.
Build a diverse and inclusive team that reflects our company values.
4. Innovation & Sustainability
Drive the adoption of new technologies, including AI-powered predictive maintenance, IoT sensors, and advanced building automation systems (BAS) to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Lead sustainability initiatives for clients, focusing on energy efficiency, Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) optimization, water conservation, and renewable energy integration.
Stay ahead of industry trends and innovations, positioning our firm as a thought leader in the data center operations field.
Candidate Profile: Required Qualifications
Experience & Education
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in critical facilities management, with at least 7-10 years specifically in data center operations.
Proven track record of managing a large, geographically dispersed portfolio of critical facilities across the Asia Pacific region.
Demonstrated P&L management experience is highly advantageous
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
Technical Skills & Certifications
Expert-level knowledge of critical infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, chillers, and fire suppression systems.
Strong understanding of data center design, commissioning, and operational best practices.
Industry certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), Accredited Tier Specialist (ATS) from the Uptime Institute, or similar are highly desirable.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams across different cultures.
Strong financial acumen and business judgment.
Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence C-level executives.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate high-level strategy into actionable plans.
