C.H. Robinson is seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of FCL Procurement - SAMA to lead our ocean freight procurement efforts for the region.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving commercial development, expanding volume growth across key trade lanes, and delivering innovative procurement strategies that strengthen our market position.
You will develop and execute regional procurement strategies, build strong carrier relationships, and collaborate with our commercial teams to align on business requirements and critical buying criteria. You will also partner with our Centres of Excellence (CEC) to establish performance benchmarks, improve processes, and ensure seamless execution across the ocean freight lifecycle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategy
• Build and drive strategy, business plan and budget
• Ensure strategic alignment of company and regional Initiatives
• Foster trade lane mentality
• Ensure productivity and efficiency of business
General Function Management
• Cascade communications to management and employees across multiple locations as appropriate (organizational or divisional initiatives, announcements, etc.)
• Visibly lead and support change management initiatives (communication, implementation, and reinforcement)
• Develop and maintain external relationships representing CHR at an executive level to ensure market visibility and brand enhancement (i.e. customers, shippers, carriers, industry groups, etc.)
• Ensure that our customers, carriers and employees are informed of emerging market trends and are well positioned to adapt correctly to market changes
• Identify and create solutions which enhance operational efficiency and productivity, direct oversight to managing core shared service groups (relative to ocean)
• Support route development and Sales globally in relation to assigned trade
KPI’s
• Define, map, and prioritize the specific business capabilities, processes and workflows needed to realize our long-term vision and strategies
• Provide periodic performance related (KPI) reports related to own region
• Help build & manage annual budgets, goals and targets consistent with the overarching goals of the broader global initiatives
Talent Leadership:
• Coach and develop individuals towards the achievement of their career goals and performance objectives
• Create and manage first in class reporting functions to effectively measure and analyze key performance criteria’s
• Drive engagement and enablement of employees through role modelling key HR practices (employee development, performance management, recognition programs, retention, talent management, team communications etc.)
Carrier Relations:
• Drive carrier relationship management and eco-system; Understand the needs of carriers and industry trends; Develop best in class carrier management routines and products/value added services
• Build and maintain personal relationships with all Ocean carriers
• Develop standard reporting for carriers to understand their business and performance with C.H. Robinson
• Improve and stabilize buy rates throughout market cycles
Sales:
• Support the sales process to win business.
• Develop and implement price strategy to guide the regional pricing teams
• Act as subject matter expert as it relates to all ocean Trade from the region
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the Global Freight Forwarding – Ocean product
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a dynamic, analytical minded and international environment, with diverse and geographically spread-out teams and customer base
• Experience in dealing with Ocean carriers, and in general with commercial dealings and trading
• Proven ability to lead through changing market conditions
• Deep knowledge of industry metrics and strong affinity with automation, IT, and analytical reporting tools
• Proven track record of establishing and implementing operating procedures/principles designed to improve efficiency
• Core understanding of industry sales, account, and financial management operations
• Ability to travel frequently
• Ability to build a compelling vision and translate that into concrete plans
• Ability to motivate, develop, coach, and manage managers and professionals
• Entrepreneur with an innovation bias
• Continuously scans the market for new opportunities, best practices, and potential disruptors
• Strong commercial and trading skills
• Strong analytical skills in order to analyze reports, processes & procedures
• Strong communication skills: both verbal and in writing
