How You Will Contribute:
You will be part of a team of hardware designers working on the design, implementation, and validation of complex printed circuit boards for next generation networking and optical platforms.
- Under the mentorship of a senior engineer, you will be accountable for co-developing the hardware design of circuit packs.
- You will analyze and select design alternatives based on cost, power, space and functional requirements.
- You will oversee the detailed design and schematic capture of High-Speed Digital/Analog/Power Circuits as well as the CAD implementation of the PCB associated with the design.
- You will ensure thorough validation of designs and interfaces against component and commercial requirements and participate in process change and improvement forums.
- You’ll play a key role in the documentation of functional specifications, test plans and reports and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to coordinate the efforts of FPGA designers, Manufacturing Engineers, Software Designers, Test Engineers, Verification Engineers, and others throughout the development phase.

The Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Experience in hardware design implementing and testing circuits
- Knowledge of high-speed design, digital logic design and transmission line theory
- Ability to parse component datasheets and extract functional requirements and configuration
- Experience with lab measurement techniques and test equipment
Assets:
- Telecommunications experience.
- Familiarity with Ethernet and OTN technologies
- Expertise in board level simulation and circuit simulation methodology.
Pay Range
The annual pay range for this position is $62,600 - $100,000
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
