Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Engineer Software 16535. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the GSSC program.
The Minuteman III (MMIII) ICBM Operational Software Support Program (IOSSP) team is responsible for providing iterative updates to the MMIII operational software. These software updates are critical to maintaining the readiness of the 450 MMIII missiles. The Squadron Data Simulator (SDS) is a real-time simulator that simulates a complete squadron of MMIII Launch Control Centers (LCCs) and Launch Facilities (LFs), to aid in the development and testing of the other IOSSP suites of software.
The qualified candidate will be part of a team of software engineers to make necessary software changes to meet the needs of the customer. Candidate will be responsible for analyzing SDS requirements and implementing those in code, as well as updating design documentation and implementing unit-test cases. Candidate will also work analyzing and prototyping software solutions for outstanding Operational Software Change Requests (OSCRs). Candidate will be able to develop software in both the desktop and computer hardware environment. Candidate should be a motivated individual who actively seeks to increase domain knowledge and is proactive in raising technical concerns or obstacles with senior developers and the product lead. The Candidate is also expected to mentor junior developers and get them up-to-speed on hardware integration and test of the product.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Basic Qualifications:
• Principal Engineer Software: 5 Years experience in software engineering with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 3 Years with Masters, 1 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree
• Sr. Principal Engineer Software: 8 Years experience in software engineering with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 6 Years with Masters, 4 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree
Required for both levels:
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
• 3+ years of experience with Git, GitLab, Azure or equivalent version control development tools
• 3+ years of experience working in Software Engineering teams with the ability to support planning, execute the technical scope, and support leadership planning
• 3+  years of experience in software development using languages such as C/C++, Python
• 3+ years of experience with software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance
• 1+ years lab management maintaining lab and software development equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
Principal Engineer Software/Sr. Principal Engineer Software
• Experience in identifying and implementing requirements and architecture traceability
• Experience mentoring and developing junior-level engineers
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with VxWorks Real-Time Operating Systems
• Experience working with VMEbus chasis hardware

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
