Position Overview

The Graphic Designer – Recruiting & Digital Design plays a key role in shaping how the athletics brand connects with prospective student-athletes and fans across digital platforms. This position is responsible for designing bold, innovative, and strategic digital content that enhances recruiting communications, storytelling, and brand engagement.

Reporting to the Director of Design, this designer focuses on recruiting materials, digital campaigns, and social media graphics, creating dynamic visuals that highlight the student-athlete experience, program excellence, and team culture.

 

Job Description

This position serves as a graphic designer for the department’s design team committed to advancing the Department of Athletics and Business Advancement through its strategic plan. Collaborates with coaches to develop recruiting priorities and translate strategy and messaging into effective visual content. Identifies and visually communicates the story, culture, and competitive excellence of Ohio State. Utilizes data, metrics and surveys centered around personas to drive personalized messaging and content for elevated impact. Develop and maintain templates, toolkits, and design systems that ensure brand consistency across recruiting and digital platforms. Ongoing observation of the athletics creative

landscape identifying trends and benchmarks to ensure Ohio State is at the forefront. Support other creative needs across the department, including digital marketing, when necessary. Manages multiple design projects and timelines in a fast- paced, collaborative environment. Stays informed on print technologies, digital design trends, and emerging creative tools to integrate new techniques and improve workflow. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged. Reports to Director of Design. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field. 4–6 years of professional design experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, or higher education. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator). Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
