Job Description

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Implement Brambles’ sustainability strategy and drive the achievement of 2025+ sustainability targets through collaboration with local and regional teams.
  • Develop and support the sustainability visibility program, ensuring strong positioning in the market as a sustainability pioneer.
  • Lead the interaction with leadership teams and broader stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives, providing thought leadership and regular updates on sustainability progress.
  • Define and implement local sustainability KPIs and targets, ensuring alignment with broader global strategies, and track progress on decarbonization and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including supply chain and operations, to align local sustainability initiatives with regional decarbonization strategies.
  • Ensure integration with Brambles' global "Zero Waste World" program and support relevant local sustainability projects.
  • Provide data-driven insights by collecting, analyzing, and reporting on key sustainability metrics, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corporate sustainability goals.

The purpose of this position:

This is a global role that has two main areas of responsibility:

The role will be central to maintaining leadership or improving Brambles’ position against credible ESG indices/metrics such as DJSI, CDP, FTSE4Good, Corporate Knights and other relevant investor related accolades and questionnaires. The role will analyse past year performances and methodology to ensure continuous improvement opportunities are identified and liaise with relevant Brambles functions to communicate stakeholder expectations and best practices to influence action. They will compile the relevant information needed to respond to questionnaires and prepare Brambles’ responses for submission.

🔍 What You’ll Do?

Assist the global central sustainability team with their responsibilities and relevant ongoing global and strategic projects, which might include, but are not limited to: developing strategies to accelerate progress against Brambles’ 2030 Sustainability targets and regeneration, tracking and analysing developments and best practices in the sustainability and ESG space, translating stakeholder expectations in a medium and long term sustainability strategy, integrating nature issues in the business processes and strategy, implementing collaborative food rescue projects, tracking progress of the different global sustainability related projects etc. This will also include managing the day to day operational tasks of our global matching donations programme.

Brambles’ regenerative strategy is at the leading edge of business model innovation worldwide and will underpin Brambles’ brand, reputation and, ultimately, how it creates long-term value. This makes the role globally relevant and extremely unique, and like Brambles’ circular business model, it will help define a template for other businesses to adopt.

The key tasks and accountabilities of this role include:

This role is pivotal in driving our sustainability program forward through diverse and transversal projects, ensuring meaningful progress towards our ambition to create regenerative supply chains. Key tasks and projects will vary with priorities and will span across diverse impact areas, necessitating collaboration with a wide array of teams and stakeholders, ensuring a rich and multifaceted experience with plenty of opportunities to grow, and may include:

  • Support with strategic and operational projects leading to the achievement of Brambles’ sustainability targets, including:

    • Regeneration - supporting the development and driving of strategies to accelerate Brambles’ regeneration e.g. forest positive, carbon-neutral strategies, natural capital/biodiversity

    • Nature – analyse best practices in the implementation of ambitious and successful nature positive strategies

    • Volunteering and donations – contribute to the development and operationalisation of strategic projects in key regions to maximise participation in volunteering and donations programmes.

  • Analysis and development of responses to investor questionnaires, ratings and indices.

  • Collaboration and coordination with Global Sustainability team, Decarbonisation, Procurement, Risk, Transformation Programme, and other relevant functions to ensure alignment and understanding of Brambles’ 2030 targets and strategies to accelerate progress.

  • Drive operational excellence through dynamic administrative support, ensuring smooth operations through tasks such as invoicing and supplier on-boarding.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams with competing priorities & limited resources.

  • Coordinating numerous stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.

  • Adapting to shifting priorities and emerging tasks, often with limited notice and evolving deadlines.

🎯 What We’re Looking For?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with specialized studies in sustainability and/ or a Masters’ degree considered an advantage.

  • Active participation in Sustainability programmes.

  • Proficiency in English is essential, while fluency in other languages such as Spanish will be viewed favorably

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in working in a matrix environment

  • Experience in ESG reporting and external market disclosures (desirable)

  • Self-motivated, independent and results oriented

  • Ability to motivate and engage direct and indirect team members and stakeholders

  • Sustainability and environmental impact analysis knowledge

  • Excellent presentation, communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisation skills, adaptable and detailed-oriented.

  • Ability to work effectively under tight timelines & within resource constraints.

  • Skilled in data management and analysis; experience with statistical tools.

  • Curious, creative, and eager to contribute to transformational work.

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex and unfamiliar topics, and distill them into clear, accessible insights for non-expert and senior audiences

  • Willingness to learn and embrace flexibility in a dynamic environment.
