What You’ll Do:

This position is responsible for maintaining subject matter expertise in Fraud Prevention, BSA/AML, and OFAC-related regulations and controls within the Bank. Operating as part of the second line of defense, the Fraud and BSA Project Advisory Specialist provides support, guidance, and oversight to business units to ensure the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial crime risks across the organization during new projects and product initiatives.

  • Provide BSA compliance and fraud risk insight for new product initiatives and major projects.
  • Conduct risk evaluations, due diligence, and assist in the completion of special projects as assigned.
  • Research and provide expert opinions on compliance, BSA/AML, OFAC, and fraud prevention questions.
  • Monitor and interpret new and changing laws, regulations, and industry guidance, advising management on required actions.
  • Support the coordination and communication of required regulatory and operational changes across the Bank.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of internal and external audit findings and compliance issues.
  • Participate in Go/No-Go calls when projects/initiatives approach the final go-live date
  • Partner with internal audit, regulators, and business line management to provide documentation and subject matter expertise as needed.

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial crime risk management, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

In addition, this role will:

  • Attend calls and meetings, take notes, and retain documentation throughout the course of the product or project.
  • Work closely with business units to ensure a thorough understanding of products and services.
  • Collaborate with BSA/AML and Fraud Management to share information, solicit feedback, and identify or eliminate potential control gaps.
  • Conduct independent research and analysis as needed.
  • Facilitate and document the “go/no-go” decision process for initiatives, coordinating with BSA/AML and Fraud Management when formal votes are required.
  • Prepare and finalize memos summarizing decisions, findings, and recommendations.
  • Perform any other related tasks necessary to support effective oversight and risk management.

Must Haves

  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, and Fraud Prevention regulations, risk mitigation, and industry typologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years of experience in BSA/AML, fraud risk management, or compliance roles.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated accountability, ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to apply both technical and general business knowledge to resolve complex issues.

Nice to Haves

  • ACAMS, CFE, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Red Flags and Identity Theft Program requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with auditors and regulatory examiners.

Technology Skills:

  • Ability to work with the Microsoft Suite and learn/work with other Customers Bank’s applications.
