Strike is a Y Combinator–backed startup reimagining how the world prices uncertainty.
We’re building the first prediction market that lets businesses hedge against real-world outcomes — protecting against uncertainty in the same way they hedge currencies or commodities.
Backed by Y Combinator, Quadcode, Transpose Platform Management, Pioneer Fund, Goodwater Capital, and others.

⚙️ About the Role
We’re looking for an exceptional founding engineer to join our small, tight-knit team in NYC.
You’ll work on everything from low-latency trading systems to real-time pricing models and the infrastructure that powers them.
This is a hands-on, zero-to-one role — you’ll be designing, building, and scaling mission-critical systems from day one.
You don’t need a finance background. What we care about is deep technical ability, curiosity, and the drive to own complex systems end-to-end.
⸻
🚀 What You’ll Do
• Design, build, and maintain core backend and trading systems
• Architect, deploy, and operate scalable, secure infrastructure on AWS
• Optimize for performance, reliability, and latency in distributed environments
• Contribute to key architectural decisions and long-term technical direction
⸻
💡 What We’re Looking For
• 3+ years of backend engineering experience (startup or high-performance systems a plus)
• Strong AWS experience — you’ve built, deployed, and debugged in production
• Deep understanding of system design, networking, and security fundamentals
• Bonus: background in crypto, trading, or high-frequency systems
• Above all: you move fast, think rigorously, and love hard problems
⸻
🧭 Why Join Us
• Ship ambitious products that blend finance, computation, and real-world impact
• Ownership from day one — your work directly shapes the core market and infrastructure
• Join a team that values precision, autonomy, and real engineering depth
⸻
🎁 Benefits
•	Flexible PTO
• Company-provided lunch
• Health insurance
⸻
📍 Logistics
• Full-time, in-person role in NYC (we’re in the office at least 5 days / week)
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (we can’t currently sponsor visas)\
