Floor Coordinator- Operating Theatres

About your new role

We’re seeking a proactive and collaborative Floor Coordinator to provide operational oversight of our Operating Suite in the evenings at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne, Fitzroy.

This part-time role is 22.5 hours per week (three evening shifts).

You will coordinate theatre flow and resources to ensure safe, efficient after-hours operations and an excellent experience for patients, clinicians and caregivers.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate evening theatre lists, room allocations and turnaround to meet clinical priorities.

  • Lead and support perioperative teams; model a calm, solutions-focused approach.

  • Manage staffing allocations and skill mix; escalate and problem-solve in real time.

  • Partner with Surgeons, Anaesthetists, NUMs and the After-Hours Manager to optimise throughput and patient safety.

  • Monitor clinical standards, patient flow and documentation; support timely handover.

  • Liaise with Sterilising Services, Recovery and Ward areas to maintain continuity of care.

  • Contribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

About you

You are an engaging leader who communicates clearly, collaborates broadly and thrives in a dynamic environment.

Your skills and experience include:

  • Minimum 5 years’ perioperative experience.

  • Previous leadership/management experience in theatres.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing/Management (desirable).

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and support teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and sound clinical judgement.

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (or relevant clinical registration).
