Fleet Operations Manager

North Las Vegas, Nevada - USA Full time

Job Description:

The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for the daily oversight of the equipment fleet, ensuring it operates safely, efficiently, and compliantly. Key duties include managing budgets, overseeing maintenance and repair schedules, ensuring driver compliance, improving operational processes, and managing the full vehicle lifecycle, from procurement to disposal. This role also involves managing staff, leading cross-functional teams, and using data from telematics systems to improve performance and reduce costs. The Sr. Manager is also responsible for complete EH&S compliance of the Las Vegas Fleet Center.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S)

    • Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

    • Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet performance, reduce costs, and ensure compliance.

  • Manage the maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of equipment.

  • Ensure the fleet adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, FMCSA) and company safety policies.  This includes managing accident reviews and implementing safety improvements.

  • Under the guidance of the Director-Fleet Management, oversee the fleet budget, control expenditures, and analyze financial data to improve profitability.

  • Manage daily repair decisions, preventive maintenance schedules, and the use of fleet management software, MaintainX.

  • Hire, train, and manage maintenance staff.  Conduct performance evaluations and ensure personnel follow rules and regulations.

  • Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and control the total cost of ownership.

  • Work with other departments and teams to achieve operational goals.

  • Continuously identify and implement initiatives to improve existing processes and efficiency.

Job Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in equipment fleet maintenance/management required.

  • Experience with emergency response planning preferred

  • Experience with business continuity/resiliency planning is preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Strong ability to read and understand technical documents related to construction and maintenance activities is required including surveys, architectural plans, construction specifications, and technical manuals.

  • Strong ability to read and understand legal documents related to construction and maintenance activities is required including service contracts, construction contracts, and leases.

  • The ability to lead project teams and to manage staff and develop subordinates is required.

  • The ability to develop and manage budgets related to maintenance expenses and capital expenditures is required.

  • Ability to communicate, build relationships, and collaborate effectively with other leaders in the corporation including Supply Chain Operations, Finance, Legal, Sales, and executive-level management.

  • Robust PC skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project) required, experience with MaintainX a plus.

  • Valid Passport and Driver License required

  • The job requires travel approximately 25%-50%% of the time as fleet will be spread across the country

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.

  • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • The employee will be required to walk, crawl, crouch, climb ladders and be comfortable with heights to perform site observation/inspection duties related to this position.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000.
