We are now looking for a Financial Specialist to be part of our 10-member Accounting team in Helsinki. The role is new, and you will have ownership in ensuring that the expense claim processes of a global fast-growing software company run smoothly. In addition to our wider Finance team, you will collaborate closely with RELEX employees as well as with our international partners.  

What you’ll be doing: 

As a Financial Specialist you will focus on ensuring that the expense claim processes of our colleagues are running accurately and efficiently. Your main responsibilities will include:  

  • Coordinating and supporting the daily operations, with a focus on expense claim processing and related processes, like credit card management and travel booking processing. Work includes guidance, query and master data management 
  • Act as a first escalation point for internal and external stakeholders for guidance 
  • Guide colleagues in complex cases across the claim processes  
  • Plan and lead process improvement initiatives, and introducing new ways of working   
  • Assisting with other financial operational and control-related tasks based on needs, like payments, invoice approvals, controlling the balances related to expense claims and credit cards in the balance sheet, and accruals for the expenses  

What you’ll bring to the table: 

  • Suitable education, e.g. Bachelor’s degree (e.g. accounting, finance, business)  
  • At least 3 years of experience related to managing a financial process, like expense claiming, credit card processing, accounting, accounts payables or other similar 
  • Previous experience in handling expense claims, particularly regarding VAT regulations, tax deductibility, and related compliance considerations in international environment 
  • Ability to make well-argued decisions in a fast-developing environment   
  • A flexible team-player with a passion for detail, consistency, and accuracy  
  • Proven track record in guiding some financial substance area and the workflow of other people, and leading process improvement improvements   
  • Strong communication skills in English  
  • Previous experience in different finance and accounting software is considered an advantage, we use e.g. M2, Rydoo, NetSuite ERP  
  • Previous experience in participating in cross-functional projects, and implementing a new software, and coordinating the work is considered a significant advantage
