The Financial Reporting Accountant will require strong work ethic which is critical for monthly and quarterly close and reporting deadlines. This role requires collaboration with individuals from various teams and other offices; thereby, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. Viable candidates will need to be a self-starter and comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with tight month-end close deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for month-end close tasks including posting of journal entries, trial balance review and reconciliations between various accounting systems.

  • Analyze and summarize financial information for various entities and business units including comparative period variance review and explanations.

  • Support the Corporate Head Office with relevant data for external reporting requirements.

  • Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items and issues in a timely manner.

  • Assist with preparation of audited financial statements.

  • Research and analyze general ledger account activity for reasonableness and compliance with IFRS and Repsol accounting policies.

  • Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects as required.

  • Support internal control compliance.

  • Preparation of various financial reports for management and government reporting.

  • Assist internal and external auditors with documentation requests and audit schedules as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting

  • 3+ years of financial accounting, reporting and/or audit experience (IFRS experience a plus)

  • Accounting experience within the E&P industry preferred

  • Familiarity with SAP a plus

  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel
