Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager

Job Mission:

This role is part of the Finance Business Services (FBS) team, a regional service center that ensures consistency and efficiency in all financial accounting and reporting activities across APAC markets, and is a key business partner to provide key financial data and insights to our stakeholders that help Chanel to make financial and business decisions.

The Finance Accounting and Reporting Manager position in the market serves as an accounting in-charge to take full ownership of the financial closing process and lead the accounting operations for the Vietnam market.  The incumbent will proactively manage the month-end and year-end closing cycles, oversee day to day accounting activities and provide leadership to a high performing accounting team.  By acting as a key business partner to both local and regional stakeholders, the incumbent will drive operational excellence, foster compliance with company policies and relevant regulations, and support strategic business decision-making through insightful financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to Senior Manager – Financial Accounting & Reporting, the key responsibility of this roles is to:

Financial Accounting & Reporting related

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial statements; take full accountability for the quality of local financial books and compliance of all financial submissions to local, regional, global, and external stakeholders (e.g., external auditors, local authorities). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local market accounting and tax regulations to ensure statutory compliance.
  • Ensure accounting and financial-related control activities are properly in place (including AP, AR, and GLs), which also cover, but are not limited to planning and coordinating annual stock counts, cycle count reviews, physical fixed asset counting & disposal of assets and ensure a proper Segregation of Duties in the way of working among the Finance Business Services team;
  • Be responsible for handling local specific procedures to comply with local regulatory requirements; and address any local accounting and reporting gaps. 
  • Be the first contact point with local business, regional & global enquiries about the actual financial data/reports. 
  • Provide insights on the financial statements to market CFO, highlight any operational issues or deficiencies based on the financial statements and propose actions to be taken.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the external auditor and tax consultant and ensure statutory requirements are met, including audit planning, preparation of financial data and explanations, as well as managing the closing meeting with the market CFO;
  • Play a critical role in building a collaborative “one team” dynamics with local finance team and be a proactive partner with local stakeholders to drive collaboration and resolve any coordination barrier across Finance Business Service team and stakeholders; 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational efficiency in accounting processes, delivering exceptional service to the market management team;

Tax related

  • Maintain strong expertise in local tax matters and serves as the main contact with local tax authorities for any tax enquiry and audit, leveraging Tax CoE and local tax consultants to support market CFO in solving tax related issues.

    Coordinate with external service providers (e.g. VAT service provider, local tax advisor, etc.) and internal team members for annual tax review/audit, and address any tax related issues as they arise

    Work closely with Tax CoE on CIT computation and submission.

    Prepare and submit CIT, VAT, WHT and TP calculation, managing tax exceptions as needed

Treasury related

  • Act as the primary liaison with banks/merchants for operational support
  • Prepare dividend payment as required

Others

  • Lead the local Finance Business Services (FBS) team, work closely with Market CFO and regional teams to foster a strong unified finance culture; 
  • Lead and drive projects/assignments that can help the financial health of business or finance related perspectives (e.g. aged PO follow up, Coupa/Concur training) leveraging expertise and collaboration across FBS network
  • Manage credit limit and stock release approval and ensure timely CSR reporting in global systems
  • Provide basic training on finance, accounting, and ICRM-related topics in cooperation with other functions/departments)

Role Specifications: 

Academic/Professional Qualifications

  • University degree
  • Professional qualification holder (Chief Accountant/CPA/CA/ICAA) or equivalent.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 12 years working experience, inclusive of 5 years of managerial experience
  • Big 4 audit experience, hands on experience in accounting operations and corporate finance environment:
  • Strong business acumen with a full understanding of ERP system and accounting end to end processes is an advantage and a person who has a well-rounded accounting operation knowledge and solid expertise in financial accounting & reporting and demonstrates a strong understanding of market specificities and requirements  
  • Fluent in English is a must.
