Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Federal Health Practice at Mercer. This role will be based in Washington, DC and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

As a Federal Health Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering high-impact solutions to federal government clients. This position sits at the intersection of policy, data, and strategy—supporting public-funded health programs that serve millions of individuals.

You will collaborate with a team of subject matter experts – including actuaries, clinicians, policy analysts, and technologists—to develop data-driven insights, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to the design and improvement of healthcare systems. Associates are trusted contributors to project execution, responsible for developing deliverables, conducting complex analyses, and ensuring quality outcomes across engagements.

This is an ideal opportunity for early-career professionals who are intellectually curious, mission-driven, and eager to work on complex challenges in government healthcare. The role offers exposure to high-profile initiatives with real-world impact and a clear path for professional growth within Mercer’s consulting framework.

We will count on you to:

  • Apply professional-level analytical and writing skills to process changes to the operation manuals, addressing complex program matters across healthcare disciplines (ex. clinical, finance, data and policy) and identifying resolutions for Government approval
  • Assist multidisciplinary project teams by conducting analyses, preparing materials, and helping ensure timely, high-quality deliverables
  • Utilize technology-enabled tools to analyze large healthcare datasets and support decision-making
  • Draft client-facing materials – reports, proposals, presentations—summarizing findings, recommendations, and implications
  • Track project milestones, manage timelines, and communicate updates or issues to the project leader and clients
  • Follow established protocols to ensure work meets standards, and support team members with feedback and guidance
  • Propose innovative approaches or improvements and help drive decision-making within projects
  • Review and analyze reports involving workload data, performance metrics, and other statistical information, developing executive summaries for leadership decision-making
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members for growth and experience
  • Conduct research on issues and provide clear, concise written or verbal responses for Government approval
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple projects and activities, ensuring adherence to project milestones and due dates

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, preferably within healthcare or government sectors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and processes
  • Familiarity with cross-discipline components of healthcare delivery systems (ex. Clinical, finance, policy and operations)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing documentation for senior leadership
  • Proficiency in project management tools and tracking systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities

What makes you stand out?

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience with data analytics tools, such as SAS

Why join our team:
