The Opportunity

Our Mainline/TQM Operations Group is currently seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to join our Maple & Niagara Area team based in Vaughan, Ontario.

Reporting to the Area Manager, Maple & Niagara, the Facilities Technician will support the continued maintenance and operation of TC Energy facilities in the Area. The successful candidate will apply their mechanical and technical skills to keep our natural gas compressor stations, measurement stations, and pipeline sites running smoothly. 

The role is overtime eligible and will be part of an on-call rotating schedule in which you will be subject to call-out for emergency response. The regular work schedule will be:

  • Week 1: Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is an 8-hour day
  • Week 2: Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)

What you’ll do

  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy’s health, safety, environment, and risk standards
  • Perform monthly and annual preventive maintenance and inspections on site equipment
  • Perform frequent inspections of the facility and oversight of our facilities vegetation management plan
  • Perform routine pipeline, gas measurement and compression maintenance activities as required
  • Understand emergency management, preparedness and response procedures for work locations
  • Oversee third party contractors
  • Interpret technical reference documents, drawings and vendor manuals
  • Perform basic maintenance such as installing building signage and repairing fences
  • Perform basic additional duties such as routine administration, housekeeping of compression and measurement facilities, clerical duties, etc.
  • Provide assistance to technicians and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitude
  • Proven mechanical and technical skills related to natural gas pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system,  such as SAP or Maximo Completion of a post-secondary program
  • Completion of a post-secondary program
  • Previous experience in the oil and natural gas industry
  • Previous Facilities experience with a variety of tasks in construction, operation and maintenance of either pipeline or compressor facilities or clean-up work

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to callouts with extended workdays/weeks as required to complete assignments or emergency support
  • Be part of an on-call rotation following training period
  • Travel within the assigned area of responsibility as well as occasionally to other company locations which may include overnight trips (25% of the time)
  • Spend long periods at a computer work station, drive long distances and be exposed to field operations and construction environments
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
