Job Summary

Position responsible for maintaining grounds of hospital campus and off-site locations, as assigned.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Three (3) months experience using industrial equipment for grounds and building maintenance

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions

Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintains hospital parking lots, streets and curbs; collects and removes all trash and debris.

  • Maintains hospital grounds, waters plants, fills holes and cleans flower beds.

  • Cleans hospital drives and main entrances to the professional buildings, using the appropriate industrial equipment.

  • Cuts and trims grass in all parking lot areas; cuts, trims edge, and uses blower in maintaining lawn areas.

  • Applies insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers and weather shield in maintaining lawns; fertilizes trees, plants and flowers, and replants grass; prunes trees, plants and hedges.

  • Empties and cleans outdoor trash receptacles; cleans stairwells, pipes, fire boxes, railings and empties all trash receptacles in the parking garage.

  • Performs minor equipment repairs as necessary.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
