This Executive Director of Pharmacy position is key within Non-Commercial Pharmacy. The Executive Director of Pharmacy must possess a high level of responsibility and knowledge, provide leadership, and set a professional example for the entire organization. This position ensures accurate, timely prescription fulfillment and provides meaningful pharmacological and regulatory guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.

This position supports a Closed-Door Pharmacy Environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Perform the duties of a pharmacist in a non-commercial pharmacy, ensuring compliance with policies and state/federal regulations
  • Act as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and work collaboratively across departments
  • Prepare and dispense specialty pharmaceutical prescriptions and evaluate orders for accuracy
  • Verify patient information, authorizations, certifications, and product accuracy prior to shipping
  • Ensure all orders are processed accurately and within established timelines
  • Maintain product integrity per SOPs, departmental guidelines, and manufacturer requirements
  • Calculate correct dosages, verify regulatory adherence, and ensure complete documentation
  • Direct and oversee pharmacy technicians’ workflow, including preparation, labeling, and verification
  • Provide professional guidance, judgment, and oversight for Pharmacy Technicians, Support, and Customer Service staff
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure full regulatory adherence for PHI and pharmacy operations
  • Verify inventory, expiration dates, and temperature requirements for all dispensed products
  • Partner with supervisory staff to identify and implement performance improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate leadership in pharmacy practice, including re-engineering operations and developing best practices

What do you need for this position?

  • B.S. Pharm or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Registered Pharmacist in good standing with the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy (must be able to obtain additional state licensure as needed)
  • Minimum 3+ years post-graduate experience in pharmacy operations; non-commercial pharmacy experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and patient safety standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer systems and pharmacy software applications
