Job Summary: This position is part of the Office of Fossil Energy - National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). As an Executive Assistant, you will serve as the Senior Executive Assistant to the Director, NETL, serving as a focal point for the NETL Director's external and internal engagements and interactions.

Major Duties:

  • As an Executive Assistant, at the full performance level, GS-12, you will: Manage the Laboratory Director's schedule, arrange appointments, and prepare information for meetings and events, including autonomy to establish scheduling priorities. Lead, manage, and direct NETL's administrative program including systems, procedures, and processes. Drive and oversee the administrative operations of the Office ensuring the most efficient and effective support is provided, and address administrative matters. Lead major or complex tasks within the Office and across the lab to accomplish work, including those of a sensitive nature.

Qualifications: GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 3 of the following: Assisting with formulation, execution, or communication of administrative policies and procedures for an organization, ensuring consistency and compliance with agency and departmental guidance. Coordinating written and verbal executive correspondence and documents, including confidential/sensitive material, and ensuring correct grammar and language. Managing calendars, priorities, meeting coordination and logistics, and travel coordination for officials. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Communications, Office Administration/Management, Project Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Serving as systems owner to implement office automation and information systems that improve workflow and promote effective recording and access of data. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience.
