We are actively seeking an Evaluations Engineer to join our Business Development and Commercial team in our Calgary office. In this role, the successful candidate will leverage both technical and financial analysis to assess a wide range of upstream and midstream opportunities across the hydrocarbon value chain. By turning complex operational and financial data into clear, actionable insights, you will support informed decision-making throughout the organization. With a flat organizational structure and a diverse portfolio of projects, this position offers significant growth potential for dynamic professionals who enjoy tackling new challenges.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate corporate and asset acquisition opportunities, quantifying value and effectively conveying risk and uncertainty.

  • Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Communicate insights from technical, market, and financial data through succinct verbal and written updates for stakeholders and decision-makers.

  • Monitor and analyze companies within the WCSB and review historical commercial/purchase transactions to identify actionable opportunities.

  • Manage acquisition and divestiture processes as required.

  • Support the reserves process, ensuring corporate timelines are met and performing independent reviews on the annual roll-up.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • 10+ years of experience in Engineering, Business Development, or Corporate Strategy within upstream and midstream oil & gas.

  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions, corporate evaluations, or strategic planning preferred.

  • Experience in upstream development engineering and managing project teams.

  • Proficient in discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis; experience with Value Navigator is an asset.

  • Professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) or equivalent preferred but not required.

  • Some experience with energy midstream and/or marketing considered an asset.

  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex insights and recommendations to diverse audiences.

  • Curious, nimble, humble, and hard-working.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel.
