As the Director of Engineering, you’ll solve real problems in the healthcare industry to help patients receive the medications they need to live healthy lives. Your primary responsibility is to build, develop, and lead high-performing development teams. Your teams are successful when quickly and efficiently solving tough customer problems with scalable, reliable, secure products that customers love to use. This position will be responsible for our established prior authorization products that are focused on supporting health care providers through the PA submission and appeals process. This role will work in partnership with other teams across the company. As a key engineering leader in our product portfolio, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders and leaders across the organization and in our industry, with significant opportunity to take on responsibility, continue learning, and mentor others.

Build and lead exceptional, high-performing engineering teams:
Build strong relationships with product, UX, and analytics teams to fostered empowered product delivery teams.

Strike the right balance between new feature development and maintenance so that every team is always working for the benefit of the customer and business.
Manage the care and support of our solutions, focusing on maintainability, monitoring, and alerting, and personnel support for production problems.
Conduct periodic security and risk audits using assessments completed by the team. Work with the team to prioritize items with high probability and/or impact to be addressed in the upcoming quarter.
Proactively seek opportunities to partner across the business to work more effectively or unlock new value.
Lead engineering in delivering successful outcomes:
Achieve product line and company objectives.
Work with product and business teams to design solutions for customer problems.
Ensure that our solutions meet company and industry standards for quality, reliability, and security. This includes risk-analysis, threat-assessment, and other quality-assurance tools and process.
Meet feature, schedule, and technical requirements.
Deliver features that matter most, early and often.
Guide stakeholder communication, ensuring that status on high profile metrics and projects are well-communicated and well-understood up and across the business.
About You:
Minimum Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.
Education:
Degree or equivalent experience.
Critical Skills
12 years' of professional experience with hands-on experience leading, developing and deploying scalable, reliable, and secure web-based software used to solve real customer problems.
5+ years of technical leadership experience, able to inspire highly talented engineers and managers to accomplish more than they thought they could.
Adept at leading through others, building strong cross-team partnerships, and influencing positive change.
Strong Strategic thinking skills; able to understand and lead technology and engineers, while maintaining a business and customer focus.
An expert communicator, with exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; particularly skilled at identifying the right level of detail for different audiences and distilling complex information into simple but meaningful concepts.
Preferred Skills
Background in healthcare or familiarity with PA workflows and EHR integrations.
Exceptional blend of technical, business, organizational, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work and thrive in a highly creative, collaborative, and dynamic environment.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
