Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems is looking for an Energetic Health & Safety Industrial Hygiene Manager 3 to lead the Energetic Safety team at our Bacchus (Magna), UT facility.  (EHS + Energetics) 

Position Summary:

The Manager of Energetic Safety and Industrial Hygiene is responsible to help eliminate mishaps at the Bacchus and Copper Crossing facilities, while coordinating efforts with Promontory, Clearfield, and KSC to ensure good communication and “one Propulsion Systems” (common procedures and practices). Ensure plant wide safety and occupation health compliance at Bacchus, Copper Crossing, and applicable remote work locations at launch sites. This includes the operating areas, R&D, Analytical Labs, Test and Research Operations (TRO), Maintenance, NDT, Environmental, Plant Protective Services, and the administration areas.  Primary work location is the Magna, UT campus.  Monthly travel to other PS Utah sites is required (Copper Crossing, Clearfield & Promontory)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of Safety Management Information System (EMS) with focus on cause and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.

  • Interact with Propulsion Systems plant staff, customers, and Space Sector staff personnel, DCMA Safety Personnel

  • Chair OSCB, PPCB board member and alternate chairman of the Bacchus Plant Process Control Board, and member of the Emergency Response Team

  • Safety and occupational health operation oversight, including explosive’s safety, Process Safety Management (PSM - OSHA 119) (non-explosive’s safety, machine guarding, radiation, lead, respiratory protection, ventilation control, noise, and ergonomics.

  • Manage department’s budgets including DLY, overhead budget and program direct budgets. Perform EAC’s and process PCR’s for change in scope. Make estimates for safety support for new contracts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in a STEM field

  • A minimum of 9 years’ experience with a B.S., 7 years with M.S. and 5 years with a Ph.D.

  • 9 years of experience in a manufacturing/production/safety environment

  • 5 years of management or demonstrated leadership experience

  • Must have extensive experience related to energetic operation safety requirements.

  • Requires a demonstrated willingness and commitment to safety as the top priority.

  • Knowledgeable of management improvement methodologies, behavior-based safety, and auditing techniques.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills as well as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation graphics software.

  • Working knowledge of HOPS, DoD-4145, PSM, OSHA and general safety requirements.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 9 years’ experience in an energetic / explosives manufacturing, production and safety environment.

  • HOPS Standards Board Member, HOPS Section Chair or HOPS Location Representative experience. 

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,500.00 - $242,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
