ElectroMechanical Technician I - 2nd Shift

SUMMARY:

Primary responsibilities include operations support in setup, maintenance, and operation of high-speed automatic packaging equipment. Electromechanical troubleshooting skills are required to effectively support and assist in the maintenance and operation of automated packaging equipment. Maintains a cGMP production environment and standards throughout the production area(s). Adheres to workplace environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures while actively promoting and enforcing adherence. 

Essential Duties will require a close-knit integration with various departments including Operations and Quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair machine breakdowns in collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Operate packaging equipment to support daily operational activities.
  • Assist in training and developing new machine operators and mechanics.
  • Record data into process check sheets.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust sensors, online printing, barcode scanning, and OCR/OCV vision equipment.
  • Verify the calibration status of measurement gauges, including temperature controllers, thermocouples, air and vacuum gauges, and timers.
  • Performs Preventative and On Demand Maintenance activities, including calibration of packaging equipment, overseeing OEM support and calibration specialist personnel, and appropriately documents all activities per Sharps procedures.
  • Maintain daily correspondence with team members and attend meetings when required.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and on-demand work orders, logging them in the Blue Mountain system.
  • Work hours may vary depending on business needs.
  • Provides advanced troubleshooting including sensors, setup and adjustment of online printing, barcode scanning, and OCR/OCV vision equipment.
  • PLC Knowledge and basic programming in structured text and ladder logic to aid in troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting including controls, servos, robotics, and medium voltage control systems.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and troubleshooting strategies both internally and externally.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma 4 years of industrial automation/packaging experience. A strong desire to learn new systems and expand individual knowledgebase is mandatory.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to troubleshoot issues under high demand situations.
