The Opportunity:
CACI is offering an exciting opportunity for an academically accomplished and technically oriented individual who is looking for a paid internship during the summer of 2026! The internship will begin in May and last for 12 weeks. You will be part of a team that specializes in designing and manufacturing high-performance RF components and systems that are critical for modern communication, defense, and aerospace applications.
You will assist the engineering team and provide support across the project life cycle of various efforts. You will monitor and oversee the completion of project tasks and will work under the direction of an Engineering Manager at the CACI Melbourne office.
This position will be fully on-site, and the selected candidate will be expected to work at our Melbourne, FL office.
Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to innovative RF programs working with systems, electrical, and/or mechanical engineering teams. Your key responsibilities may include:
- Work directly with the design and operation teams getting hands-on experience in the design, manufacture, and test of advanced RF products
- Work independently and directly with a cross functional team to generate or update system documentation
- Test, analyze and generate reports that characterize the performance and operation of new product and software
- Aid in the design of electronic circuit board assemblies, ensuring they meet specified performance criteria, using schematic and layout design tools, and participating in team design reviews
- Assist in performing simulations and analysis of circuit board designs
- Conduct tests using industry-leading RF test instruments to validate the performance of designed components/assemblies
- Identify and troubleshoot issues that arise during the design and testing phases
- Analyze test data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for design adjustments
- Prepare detailed documentation of design processes, test results, and any modifications made
- Prepare and deliver presentations on project progress and findings to the team and stakeholders
- Contribute creative ideas and solutions to enhance the performance and efficiency of RF systems
- Help with the transition of prototype to production for new products
- Provide and receive constructive feedback to improve both personal performance and team outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement engineering solutions
- Create and review engineering bills of materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
- Design and draft mechanical/electrical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, ProE, AutoCAD)
- Design and conduct experiments to validate designs and evaluate material selections with engineering prototypes
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be a graduating high school senior with demonstrated academic achievement OR a current full-time undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and technicians in a team environment
Desired:
- Familiarity with OrCad or similar schematic/layout software tool
- Familiarity with Solidworks, AutoCad, or other CAD software tool
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Preferred experience includes previous internships in an engineering-related field

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$39,400 - $75,900
