Salary Range: $62020 - $97544 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (PROJECT MANAGER) in the Executive Support Office, Code 1100, Security Office, Code 1120, Technical Branch, Code 1125 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major Duties:

  • You will develop, implement and oversee plans for Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Police and Fire communications, cabling, site specific lighting, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), audio, fiber optic and peripheral systems.
  • You will conduct site surveys, planning and estimating, oversight and management of repair, installation, maintenance, design, modification, research and development of IDS, AACS, CCTV and communication systems· for nuclear and non-nuclear systems.
  • You will provide technical guidance and technical leadership with comparative freedom from supervision
  • You will prepare specifications and provide directions for the procurement of security equipment and services associated with assigned projects.
  • You will ensure specifications describe completely the material, operating parameters, and any special requirements to permit competitive bidding.
  • You will provide technical guidance for and prepare procedures for conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems.
  • You will establish all operational parameters such as voltage, amperage, speed, wattage/horsepower, etc., required to demonstrate proper performance and reliability.
  • You will provide technical guidance for preparation of lists on drawings required to execute complex projects.
  • You will perform engineering analysis and calculations associated with project designs.
  • You will provide all electrical drawings, special racks and equipment and modifications to install a specific system in a specified space.

Qualifications: GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in design and technical knowledge of engineering aspects unique to electronic systems; Experience in special interface and control requirements associated with accomplishment of design work; Experience in electrical installations to include, but not limited to, power distribution, lighting, electrical service, emergency generators and electrical systems and components; Experience in preparing and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents for complex security systems; Experience investigating and analyzing any of a variety of electrical problems and providing corrective action recommendations with ongoing assessment projects to ensure overall program effectiveness; Experience developing detailed preventative maintenance program, work, test and quality assurance/control procedures for the division's cognizant systems in accordance with regulations, policies and instructions.
