Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Plan, coordinate, and execute EHS tasks such as different types of Risk Assessments (ergonomic,
machine, area based, task based, etc.), area hazard monitoring (i.e. Noise monitoring), and various
medical surveillance tasks in coordination with occupational health (hearing, vision, drug screens,
etc.).
Lead EHS Trainings with associates and update training materials as needed.
Leads Emergency Response Plan, Training, and Coordination
Own or support the Behavior Based Safety and Environmental Safety Opportunity Processes.
Act as advocate for EHS on the shop floor and develop a speak up culture with associates.
Conduct Incident Investigations and drive the Corrective and Preventative Actions to completion.
Conduct safety audits as-needed (housekeeping, procedures, PPE, etc.)
Lead emergency response coordination.Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including
Hazardous waste regulations
To report to superior when there is any safety, environment and Health incidents
Obtain and maintain necessary legal certifications to conduct EHS business needs.
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent.
Or a Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science degree in a Technical Field or Environmental
Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, and 5 or more years of relevant manufacturing
experience.
Has or willing to work towards a Green Book Certification, an auditing certification
Knowledge and Skills:
Effective listening and verbal communication skills – Advanced.
Problem solving, decision making, and analytic skills - Advanced.
MS Word, Excel, PPT – Proficient.
Ability to learn and apply new applications – Proficient.
Perform multi-tasking with little or no supervision – Proficient.
Clerical competencies associated with data entry; word processing, filing, organizing files, scheduling,
coordination of activities, planning – Advanced.
Support for on-site visits with EHS regulators and auditors.
Serve the Safety Committee.
Supports the roll-out of the EHS Component in BD Excellence
Execute and track controlled document revisions and tracking of revisions for safety documents.
Audit safety procedures and JSAs. Support in creation of procedures to incorporate EHS needs.
Perform housekeeping and facility audits to ensure facility is “inspection” ready.
Develop an understanding of the necessary rules and legal EH&S compliance, as well as company
and industry loss prevention standards, providing facility supervisors with input on pertinent changes
as necessary. This will include attending pertinent safety training seminars as needed.
Develop a good working relationship with all associates and supervisors so they are comfortable in
sharing EHS related concerns and issues.
