Job Description:
• Organize, maintain, and improve the company’s ECAD, PCBA, and electronic component libraries, ensuring that all parts are accurately represented and conform to industry standards.
• Research and validate new electronic components, ensuring they meet both functional and design requirements.
• Create new part symbols, footprints, land patterns, 3D models, and other necessary assets in Altium.
• Ensure all component information is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent across various systems, such as ECAD, PLM, and ERP, working closely with design, engineering, and procurement teams.
• Implement and enforce version control practices for all components and library files, ensuring traceability and compliance with design revision processes.
• Support PCB designers and engineers by offering guidance and troubleshooting related to the use of libraries and ECAD tools. Provide training on library management best practices as needed.
• Continuously review and recommend improvements to library management processes, workflows, and tools to increase design efficiency and reduce errors.
• Maintain library for component availability, pricing, and obsolescence.
• Monitor component lifecycle and address component obsolescence proactively to ensure ongoing design integrity.
• Implement design for manufacture (DFM) and design for test (DFT) practices to develop quality designs.
• Supporting schematic development by debugging netlist issues.
• Support ECAD-MCAD 3D model data flow best practices (ex. Altium MCAD Co-Designer)
Additional Qualifications:
• Knowledge of ECAD library parts including logic symbols, cells (footprints), pad stacks and logical-to-physical pin mapping
• Familiarity with analog, digital, RF and electro-mechanical components
• Professional experience using ECAD tools and PCBA, and Altium / Altium 365 and associated libraries
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturer datasheets and drawings
• Ability to research and find manufacturer datasheets to aid in creation of library symbols and footprints
• Knowledge of IPC, Military and Industry Standards and Specifications
• Experience with flexible and hard printed circuits
• SQL, Access, and Excel experience with the ability to input, maintain, and manipulate data in an efficient manner
• Understanding of product configuration management needs for PCB Bill-of-Material (BOM) methods
