Position Summary:

This process engineering position is responsible for initiating, coordinating and implementing manufacturing process improvement initiatives for the facility.  Responsible for integration of Lean Sigma improvement methodologies and activities across the entire operation.  The Process Engineer will serve as a generator and coordinator of ideas for process improvement techniques and implementation strategies and will insure that timely and effective results of the process improvements are accomplished.  He/she will coordinate the resources required to plan, train and implement process improvements.

Position Specific Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include three (3) primary focus areas.  1.  Product/process Improvements 2.  New Product Development support 3.  Daily support for process troubleshooting and product quality

  • Identify and implement process/product improvements, prioritize, lead teams to achieve business goal of cost reduction for improved performance. 
  • Provide technical leadership for Lean Sigma methodology, vision, and application.  Coach and mentor associates throughout the organization on the application of Lean Sigma tools.  Coordinate, assist and arrange resources necessary to ensure timely project completion and overall process improvement results.
  • Scale up and support of New Product Developments or Modifications to Products/Processes
  • Manufacturing troubleshooting for assigned Value Stream and overall plant metrics
  • Lead projects to ensure timely execution and sustain results through Operations buy-in and Lean Sigma tools implementation. 
  • Continually improve product/process capabilities through implementation and promotion of automation & controls for Six Sigma Quality variation goal attainment

Education:

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Material Science, Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

This position is part of the Engineering staff reporting to the Engineering Manager.  The Process Engineer will need to have excellent project management and leadership skills.  Solid technical background and experience in conjunction with leadership skills, passion and curiosity will be the keys to success.  Must have excellent team skills, both as a team member as well as a team trainer and developer.  Must be able to drive change and introduce innovative solutions for process/product capability, and productivity improvement.  This position provides a great opportunity to work with various levels of the organization, and therefore, requires skill in vertical slice management .

  • 5-7 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in process driven, continuous operations - wire and cable experience highly desirable
  • Experience leading high performance work teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience with process control and new product introduction technologies
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong record of Lean Sigma Tools implementation
