The Divisional EHS Manager reports to the Global Director of Operations and has primary responsibility for providing Environmental, Safety, Health and Security expertise to the North American facilities and businesses. The role includes leadership for one full-time direct report (EHS Specialist) and may support international sites as required.

Primary Duties

  • Nurture and uphold the values of H.B. Fuller and champion a “Safety Always” culture at all sites through visible on-site support and servant leadership.

  • Comply with Federal, State, Local and Internal requirements.

  • Operate in a manner that minimizes environmental, safety, health and security risk and company liability.

  • Implement activities, programs, and training for existing and pending EHS & security requirements.

  • Recognize and resolve dangerous, potential loss and noncompliance situations.

50% – Strategic Influencing, Staff Development & Leadership

  • Lead risk & compliance assessments and implement risk management plans across applicable sites.

  • Travel to each site quarterly; travel expectation is up to 70%.

  • Define and implement operating rhythm for EHS communication and collaboration.

  • Serve as primary EHS messenger for the business (performance, investigations, compliance, updates).

  • Support site GMs with training and EHS program implementation.

  • Lead and develop assigned staff, including direct management of the EHS Specialist.

  • Promote use of EHS policies, procedures, and digital tools (Benchmark/Gensuite).

  • Provide coaching and guidance to divisional leadership and plant EHS reps.

  • Collaborate with global safety representatives to implement global EHS programs and strategies.

25% – Implementation of EHS & Security Programs

  • Translate EHS requirements into actionable rules and improvements.

  • Develop programs aligned with regulations and coordinate with Global EHS and insurance carriers.

  • Create and implement policies and standards supporting H.B. Fuller’s EHS philosophy.

  • Ensure sustainable corrective actions and fulfillment of recommendations.

  • Support long-term risk management plans and compliance audits.

  • Assist with Process Safety Management improvements.

20% – Audit and Risk Management

  • Coordinate Process Safety Management and identify compliance gaps.

  • Guide and evaluate corrective actions from audits.

  • Provide hands-on support to plants for safety issues.

  • Inspect housekeeping and data standards.

  • Review facility plans to improve EHS practices and coordinate with Corporate EHS and insurers.

  • Actively resolve safety concerns.

5% – General Responsibilities

  • Participate in global EHS/PSM team activities and audits.

  • Complete compliance tasks accurately and on time.

  • Develop annual EHS operating plan and budget.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Environmental Science.

  • 8+ years Safety & Health management experience

  • 5+ years applying environmental regulations in U.S. operations.

  • 3+ years in project management and regional operations support and industrial hygiene program oversight.

  • 3+ years managing direct reports.

  • Knowledge of EHS laws and regulations

  • Understanding of systems like VPP, OHSAS 18001, Responsible Care.

  • Working knowledge of US DOT and security regulations.

  • Leadership in identifying and resolving EHS non-conformances.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills and the ability to work independently

  • Ability to travel up to 70%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced education in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Environmental Science.

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or audit certifications.

  • Multi state EHS experience.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $125,000 - $145,000.
