District Manager
Salary: $78,000 – $82,000 per year
Position Summary
The District Manager provides leadership and direction to store managers to ensure operational excellence, profitability, and compliance with company policies. This role supports locations throughout the north, south, east, and west metro areas surrounding the Twin Cities. The District Manager is responsible for driving business results, developing store leadership talent, managing controllable costs, and maintaining a safe, customer-focused environment across all assigned locations.
Essential Functions
Provide information to store management by recapping promotional activity, reporting business opportunities, and identifying trends and competitive insights.
Manage controllable costs by educating store managers on procedures for controlling merchandise variation, payroll, cash, repairs, and maintenance expenses.
Collaborate with Marketing to execute promotions and new product introductions; provide feedback to Category Managers regarding stock issues.
Partner with vendors to ensure timely product availability and professional performance.
Ensure store profitability by managing key expense lines and analyzing P&L variances; initiate corrective actions when necessary.
Enforce adherence to company policies, procedures, and government regulations, including restricted sales policies.
Promote a safe and secure work environment by enforcing safety practices and providing communication and training.
Achieve financial objectives by forecasting, budgeting, scheduling expenditures, and analyzing performance results.
Recruit, select, train, and develop store management teams. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action as needed.
Implement fair, non-discriminatory management practices in all areas of employment.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional associations.
Contribute to overall company goals by achieving financial and Key Result Area (KRA) targets in alignment with corporate plans.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
3–5 years of retail experience preferred, including at least 2 years in a management role.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to train and manage store managers in operations, procedures, and equipment use.
Valid driver’s license required to operate a company vehicle.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
Ability to view a computer monitor and communicate via phone.
Occasional reaching overhead and lifting up to 20 pounds.
