Major Responsibilities: Dispatcher Role 5)Performs other related duties as required. Including stepping into the transport role during high transport volumes and to complete necessary transport requests to ensure department goals & standards are met. 6)Receives and documents associate call offs & tardies. 1)Able to problem solve and escalate appropriately through the chain of command and effectively serve as the support for the transporters during times of need. 2)Ensures professional interaction with team members in a high pressure team atmosphere and ensure all staff is performing transports fairly and workloads are administered equally and fairly. 3)Generates the necessary production reports and sends to appropriate management, as needed. 4)Performs clerical functions including typing, filing, word processing and copying; operates PC, and TeleTracking. Transport Role 3)Manages work load and completes assignments according to department goals & standards. 4)If required to wear a pager, responds to pages within 5 minutes 5)Participate in any hospital or department surveys. 6)Follows Infection Control Measures, including Hand Hygiene and proper disinfection of equipment before and after use. 1)Performs general transportation duties as necessary per hospital policies: Transports newly admitted patients. Performs cleaning and preventative maintenance on equipment and escalates any malfunctions or inadequate equipment for necessary repairs. Maintains and redistributes O2 tanks. Redistributes wheelchairs and carts to appropriate storage locations on a daily basis. Assists nursing staff with transferring patients to and from beds, carts and chairs. Appropriately process all lost and found items to proper departments. 2)Utilizes proper body mechanics to ensure employee/ patient safety by utilizing the Safe Patient Equipment provided on each unit. Quality & Safety 5)Maintains established Advocate Trinity and Support Services department policies, procedures and objectives for quality assurance and safety. 6)Displays polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customers and co-workers. Maintains friendly, efficient and responsive attitude toward client and client’s customers/patients while performing job duties. 7)Adheres to Advocate's Behaviors of Excellence. 1)Participate in efforts to improve productivity in your department and hospital wide performance enhancement related activities. 2)Develop a learning plan and track your progress on a learning log. 3)Performs all work in accordance with Support Services/Advocate Trinity and regulatory safety procedures and requirements including NFPA, EPA, OSHA, Accrediting Organization, state, county, and local agencies. 4)Maintains clean and safe work environment in the department and patient care areas, including patient rooms. Following Infection Control Measures. Innovation & Growth 5)Ensure on-time completion of your performance pathway • Send out co-worker feedback forms 6 months before review to associates you and your leader have identified as able to provide valuable feedback. Submit self-evaluation to leader two weeks before review 6)Participate in departmental recognition and socialization activities. 1)Submit ideas each year for improving customer satisfaction to your leader 2)Submit ideas for improving productivity in your department. 3)Schedule yourself to complete any necessary competencies. 4)Attends all department/hospital in-service orientation and other meetings as required. Education/Experience Required: High School graduate or equivalent. 6 - 12 months Customer Service experience. 1 - 2 year Hospital environment required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Basic PC skills and knowledge. Excellent Customer Service skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with patient and co-workers. Must have manual dexterity required for handling patients, equipment and supplies. Ability to read, write and follow instructions required. Must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, daily work assignment and environment CPR- Heartsaver/AED certification. Required within the first 6 months of employment. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to appropriately communicate professionally with customers and patients. Ability to travel to various departments if needed. Ability to do heavy lifting: 60-100 pounds occasionally, and/or 25 pounds frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds constantly. When in a position of direct patient care or patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when a patient is unable to assist with the transfer, patient handling equipment is expected to be used with at least one other associate, when available.
