The Role

The Director / Senior Director, Business Development – Mammalian has primary responsibility for business development and sales in Europe. This includes identifying, evaluating, recommending, and negotiating value-added development and manufacturing contracts for mammalian clients. The role is a key member of the Global Business Development Team.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, initiate, lead, and close contracts for new projects with both new and existing clients, promoting company visibility, growth, and profitability.
  • Formulate and implement strategies to substantially increase revenue and market share in the region.
  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to achieve annual sales targets through new deal acquisition.
  • Establish contact and develop proposals with prospective and existing clients that meet target profiles.
  • Visit clients and communicate company capabilities effectively.
  • Facilitate site visits by prospective clients, coordinating agendas, team participation, and follow-up communication.
  • Lead the closing process for new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of an effective regional marketing plan.
  • Build and sustain strong internal and external relationships to ensure timely identification and pursuit of business opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospects and partnerships in the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams across all sites to ensure successful handoff and execution of new projects.
  • Provide market intelligence and insights gathered through client interactions to support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate technical, legal, and financial due diligence activities for specific opportunities.
  • Represent AGC Biologics at trade shows, conferences, and business meetings.
  • Deliver business results in line with management expectations, ensuring a high standard of quality.

Qualifications

  • Dynamic, hands-on professional with 5–8+ years of proven success in Business Development or Sales, preferably within the CMO/CDMO industry. (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field. (Required)
  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related technical area. (Preferred)
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and presentation-driven communication skills. (Required)
  • Ability to adjust communication style easily to suit different audiences and contexts. (Required)
  • Established network of industry contacts within the biopharmaceutical sector. (Preferred)
  • Willingness to travel globally to AGC Biologics sites and client locations (~50% of the time). (Required)
