OLG is seeking a strategic leader to oversee its Safer Gambling (SG) policy and controls framework. This role ensures policies are current, evidence-based, and operationalized through mapped controls aligned with regulatory and enterprise compliance standards. You’ll own the SG policy roadmap, Player Intervention Matrix, and accreditation processes, while leading SG research and evaluations to inform policy decisions. The role also manages internal audit responses, legal and compliance issues, and oversees the self-exclusion program and provider network.
YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME
Reporting to the VP Safer Gambling, you will be empowered to:
Lead the development, review, and modernization of Safer Gambling policies, including the enterprise roadmap and Player Intervention Matrix, ensuring they reflect current risks, AGCO standards, and operational consistency across all channels.
Develop new policy frameworks to address emerging areas of player risk, such as financial harm, younger players, and the integration of self-exclusion across platforms—ensuring OLG’s approach remains proactive, inclusive, and evidence-based.
Oversee Safer Gambling research and program evaluations to inform policy decisions, measure effectiveness, and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Manage and evolve the Self-Exclusion program in collaboration with iGaming Ontario, service providers, and treatment networks, ensuring it is accessible, integrated, and responsive to player needs.
Ensure Safer Gambling policies are embedded into enterprise operations through mapped controls, alignment with risk and compliance frameworks, and responsiveness to audit and regulatory feedback.
Lead policy accreditation processes and maintain clear, accessible documentation, ensuring alignment with global best practices and readiness for internal and external review.
Provide strategic policy leadership across the enterprise, guiding teams through change, embedding Safer Gambling principles into operations, and fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and player care.
WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY
Work Experience:
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in policy development, research, compliance, or program oversight within a regulated industry. Proven ability to design and implement policies and mapped controls aligned with regulatory standards. Experience leading self-exclusion or consumer protection programs and managing complex stakeholder relationships across regulators, researchers, service providers, and community partners. Strong leadership background with multidisciplinary teams and vendor oversight.
Education
University degree in business, public policy, health sciences, or social sciences; graduate degree preferred. Solid understanding of responsible gambling policy, research methods, evaluation design, and regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with gaming operations and compliance requirements.

Licenses, Registrations, Certificates:
This role may require a Category 1 or Category 2 Gaming Assistant Registration (License) from our regulator, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). If required, employment is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining this registration (license), which will be initiated at the offer stage.
